On December 3, Deirdre Rachid and Jon Lindsay hold a party in their new house to celebrate their ill-fated engagement.
Two days later, Katie Mallett is christened. Curly Watts and Samantha Failsworth are godparents. Katie's mother Zoe Tattersall shows up at the party having sold the baby to Gary and Judy Mallett.
Five days later, Marlon Dingle's plan to rip off Eric Pollard goes awry and results in him and his cousin Sam being beaten up.
Another five days later, Emily Bishop is reunited with her nephew Spider Nugent when he comes to stay with her.
Two days later, Kim Tate discovers an anonymous person knows about the involvement in the death of the woman in March 1997. Zoe Tattersall offers to sell her baby Shannon to Gary and Judy Mallett for £2,000. Gary refuses but Judy privately accepts.
The next day, Cindy Cunningham goes into labor.
Another next day, Judy Mallett has sex with her boss Paul Fisher in exchange for a £2,000 advance on her wages.
Three days later, Toyah Battersby frees the live turkey that the Battersbys were going to eat for Christmas. Les drives over the turkey while looking for it. On Christmas Day, Jambo Bolton proposes to Dawn Cunningham on a boat ride, which she accepts. However, she dies from leukemia shortly afterwards. Cindy Cunningham gives birth to the daughter of her and her late boyfriend Lee Stanley, who she names Holly Cunningham.
The next day, Roy Evans has a heart attack. Mandy Dingle proposes to Paddy Kirk. James Tate is kidnapped by Jan Glover.
Another next day, Jack Sugden finds an unconscious Andy Hopwood.
Another next day, Kathy kisses Alex Healy. Kevin and Sally Webster get back together. Marlon Dingle is disowned by his family for the hijack. James Tate is found, resulting in Jan Glover getting arrested.
Another next day, Jan Glover appears in court. She receives a hospital order.
Three days later, Dawn Cunningham's funeral takes place. Cindy Cunningham collapses from an infection developed whilst giving birth.
Two days later, Deirdre Rachid breaks up with her fiancé Jon Lindsay after discovering that he is already married. Narvel went on to date Dierdre for the new year's eve party. Geri Cairns is adopted by Harold and Paige Tilsley, and make Brody a big brother. Geri's new name is Tillie Ann Tilsley, and she will not visit her birth mother ever again.
