It was midnight, and the mansion was eerily quiet. The twins, Noah and Lila, were soundly asleep in their rooms, their innocent dreams undisturbed. Hoseok, however, was restless. He sat alone in the living room, staring blankly at the big plasma TV that played a movie he wasn’t really watching. His mind was miles away, burdened by the haunting memories and sleepless nights that had become his reality since moving into the mansion.
He sighed deeply, his fingers idly tracing patterns on the couch as he wriggled his toes, a faint attempt at grounding himself. The peace of the mansion did nothing to ease his inner turmoil. The nightmares had intensified since moving here, and the shadows of his past seemed to stretch endlessly in this grand, empty house. Hoseok felt trapped in a cruel joke—he had survived so much only to be tormented once again. The trauma he had endured at the hands of the sis mafia's was something he could never erase. His only solace was his children; he had vowed to stay alive for them, no matter how much he wished he could escape the pain.
As he wallowed in his thoughts, he flinched when the couch dipped beside him. Startled, Hoseok turned his head to find Taehyung sitting next to him. Taehyung’s presence was unexpected, and Hoseok tensed, instinctively moving away. The tension in the air was palpable, and Taehyung’s silence only made it heavier.
“What are you doing up so late?” Taehyung’s voice broke the silence, soft and gentle.
Hoseok hesitated before responding. “I… I couldn’t sleep.”
Taehyung nodded, understanding. “I couldn’t sleep either.”
The silence stretched again, growing thicker and more uncomfortable. Hoseok, feeling suffocated, attempted to stand up, but before he could move, Taehyung’s arm encircled his waist, pulling him back down. Hoseok found himself straddling Taehyung, his heart racing. He gasped, his eyes meeting Taehyung’s dark ones.
“Relax,” Taehyung said softly, his voice a soothing murmur. He began to massage Hoseok’s thigh gently, his nose brushing against Hoseok’s neck. The touch was both familiar and foreign, and Hoseok flinched but didn’t pull away.
Taehyung’s gaze was intense, filled with a mixture of desire and tenderness. “Can I kiss you?” he asked, his breath warm against Hoseok’s ear.
Hoseok’s mouth fell open in surprise, his mind racing. He wasn’t sure how to respond, but he nodded slowly. Taehyung leaned in, capturing Hoseok’s lips in a gentle kiss. The initial contact was soft, a contrast to the harsh memories that plagued Hoseok’s mind. Taehyung’s lips were tender as they explored Hoseok’s, savoring the sweetness before deepening the kiss. Hoseok gasped at the sensation but timidly kissed back, the kiss being the first genuine, unforced affection he had received in a long, long time.
Taehyung’s hands roamed gently over Hoseok’s body as he continued to kiss him. He gradually guided Hoseok onto the couch, his touch growing more exploratory. Hoseok’s breaths quickened, and despite the initial comfort, he found himself struggling as Taehyung’s touches became more intense.
As Taehyung’s lips traveled down Hoseok’s neck, his touches became more passionate. But then, an image from Hoseok’s past flashed vividly in his mind—scenes of them forcing themselves on him, their cruel faces and relentless actions. The memory hit him like a wave, crashing over his senses and turning the tender moment into something terrifying.
Hoseok’s eyes shot open in horror. His breathing became ragged as he whispered, “Please, stop. Please.”
Taehyung immediately froze, his face etched with concern. “Hoseok, what’s wrong?”
Hoseok’s tears started to fall as he pushed Taehyung away, his body trembling. “Please, stop,” he begged again, his voice barely audible through his sobs. He scrambled to his feet, wiping his tears furiously as he fled to his room.
Taehyung sat on the couch, stunned and conflicted. He touched his lips, the memory of Hoseok’s kiss lingering on them. He sighed deeply, the weight of the night’s events settling heavily on him. Hoseok’s pain was evident, and Taehyung felt helpless in the face of it. He remained there, lost in thought, as the quiet of the mansion enveloped him once more.
