Hoseok woke up in a daze, the world around him blurred as he tried to make sense of where he was. The bright light above him made him squint, causing him to hiss in discomfort. A gentle palm rested on his cheek, and a soft voice whispered, “Shh, it’s okay. You’re safe now.”

He furrowed his eyebrows, struggling to focus on the person beside him. As his vision cleared, he gasped, “Mom?”

“Huh?” the person replied, their confusion evident.

But Hoseok didn’t hear it. His eyes welled with tears as he reached out, pulling the person into a tight embrace. “Mom… am I finally free? Did you save me from those monsters?” His voice cracked with emotion, his body trembling with the force of his sobs.

Tears streamed down his face as he clung to the person, crying out in desperation. “Why did you leave me? Why did you and dad leave me all alone? I was so young… I didn’t know how to survive without you…”

A hand gently caressed his back, soothing him, while another ran through his hair in a comforting gesture. Hoseok’s voice broke as he whispered, “I’m so tired, Mom… tired of everything. The pain, the humiliation, the rape… them. I’m tired of life, of fighting… I just want it all to end.”

Jimin, the one who Hoseok had clung to, felt a pang of something unfamiliar—an emotion that twisted in his chest. He glanced at his brothers, each avoiding Hoseok’s gaze, their faces set in unreadable expressions. Were they feeling guilty? But they were mafias, ruthless and unfeeling—guilt wasn’t in their nature. Yet, this was what they had wanted, wasn’t it?

Hoseok’s sobs gradually subsided as he pulled back, only to freeze when he realized it wasn’t his mother he was holding, but Jimin. The shock hit him like a wave, his breath catching in his throat.

Quickly, he pushed away, retreating back onto the bed. He groaned as the beeping of a nearby monitor echoed in his ears, a constant reminder of his surroundings. It was then that he finally registered where he was—an unfamiliar hospital room.

The memories came rushing back, hitting him all at once. He sat up quickly, panic lacing his voice as he asked, “What happened to me?”

Namjoon, who stood nearby, spoke calmly. “The doctor hasn’t told us anything yet.”

Before Hoseok could respond, a knock sounded at the door. The doctor entered, a stack of papers in his hand. He smiled warmly at Hoseok, and the familiarity of his face made Hoseok’s heart drop. It was the same doctor who had examined him before, the one who had given him the news that changed everything.

Taehyung immediately stepped forward, his voice tight with concern. “What’s wrong with him?”

The doctor sighed, his gaze shifting to hoseok. “Should I tell them?”

Hoseok’s eyes widened in fear. “No… please don’t—”

But the doctor interrupted interrupted, his tone firm. “They have to know. They will find out eventually.”

Hoseok shook his head, trying to prevent the inevitable, but the doctor ignored his silent pleas. “Hoseok is pregnant.”

The words hung in the air, heavy and suffocating. Hoseok’s breath caught in his throat as he slumped back against the bed, a hollow laugh escaping his lips. “Can my life get any worse?” he whispered, the despair in his voice unmistakable.
