Author POV
At the School Training Camp, Rajveer, Gautam, and Rishabh were sitting down for lunch when suddenly a senior approached them, laughing and bullying them. Rajveer was annoyed and wanted him to be quiet, but being polite and timid, he couldn't find the words to respond.
Sandeep, the bully, started saying, "Hello, little prince. Is this food enough for a pig like you, or do you want me to serve you mine too?" He started laughing, and more people joined in. Rajveer, being a chubby child, often faced such taunts and was angry but couldn't express it.
"Hey, you, go away from here," Gautam said.
"Or what? Are you going to complain to the authorities? You cowards, come and fight if you have the guts," replied Sandeep.
Before anyone could respond, a small girl about their age stepped forward. "Hello, brother," she smiled at Sandeep. "Who are you, little rat?" Sandeep fumed. "Oh, that doesn't matter, but tell me, why do you want to fight?" answered the girl.
"Tumhein usse kya matlab?" Sandeep replied arrogantly. (Why do you care?)
"Aree Bhaiya, aapko apne size ka nahi mila kya? Why do you want to get trashed by kids? Are you scared to fight with people of your own size and age?" the girl replied cunningly, making everyone laugh. Rajveer, who was scared, was now smiling at the little girl and her replies.
Sandeep walked away, embarrassed by the small girl, after giving her a glare, which she returned with a smirk.
"Hello," Gautam and Rishabh greeted the little girl.
"Hello, I'm Nayantara. Nice to meet you all," she said, looking at Rajveer.
"I'm Rishabh, this is Gautam, and that guy over there is Rajveer," Rishabh replied, and Rajveer gave her a nod.
"Kya aap itne hi chup rehte hain? Mai toh chup reh hi nahi sakti," Nayantara giggled while questioning Rajveer. (Are you always this silent? I can never stay silent.)
Suddenly, Gautam's sister and another girl arrived. "Nayan, tum yaha kya kar rahi ho? Let's go have our lunch," Priyanshi asked Nayantara. (Nayan, what are you doing here?)
"Priya and Anji, meet them. They are my new friends," Nayantara replied cheerfully.
"Nayan, yeh mere bhai hain. How did you all meet?" asked Anjali curiously, pointing at Gautam. (Nayan, he is my brother.)
"Oh, hamen nahi pata tha. I just met them and now we are friends. Hain na, Gautam Bhaiya?" she replied. (Oh, I didn't know that. Right, Brother Gautam?)
Gautam nodded at Nayantara, and they all sat down for lunch together. Nayantara, being a curious child, noticed Rajveer's demeanor and wondered what was wrong with him.
In the afternoon, everyone was in the camp's ground area when Nayantara went and sat beside Rajveer. "Veer, aap yaha itne sad kyun baithe hain?" she asked with her curious eyes. (Veer, why are you sitting here feeling sad?)
Rajveer, who was chubby, was always insecure about his appearance. "Veer?" Rajveer looked at her with a questioning expression.
"Yes, Veer. Your name is too long for me, so I gave you a nickname, also you are a Prince, so Veer suits you more," she chirped happily.
"B-but people call me Raj," Rajveer replied, confused.
"Haan, bulatein honge, but for me, you are Veer. You can call me Nayan, as everyone calls me that," she replied with confidence. (Yes, maybe people call you that.)
"N-nahi, mai bhi aapko ek naya naam dunga," he replied timidly. (No, I will also give you a new name.)
"Nahi, humein Nayan pasand hai. Aap wahi bulaaiye," Nayantara insist stubbornly. But Rajveer didn't reply and started looking elsewhere. (No, I like the name Nayan. You should call me that.)
"Veer, aapne mere sawal ka jawab nahi diya. Why are you sitting here feeling sad?" she questioned again. (Veer, you didn't answer my question.)
Rajveer let out a sad sigh and replied, "Nayantara, aapne hamari madad ki uske liye thank you, but ab humein akela chhod dijiye please." (Nayantara, I'm thankful for your help, but please leave me alone now.)
"Aree, bade hi ajeeb hain aap. I won't go until you tell me. I am your friend, right?" Nayantara said with a cute pout. (Aree, you are such a weirdo.)
Rajveer looked at her pout and smiled. "Ham aapke jaise confident nahi hain. Tabhi Sandeep jaise log hamara mazak udate hain," he said. (I'm not as confident as you, which is why people like Sandeep make fun of me.) "Also, I am fat and people taunt me for that," he continued, looking at the sky. "Am I responsible for the way I look?" he asked Nayantara.
"Aree, aap itne cute hain. Kisne kaha aap fat hain? Aur hamari Maa kehti hai ki baccho ko aise hi cute hona chahiye, tabhi woh apni health acchi rakh sakte hain aur strong ban sakte hain," she replied proudly, smiling at Rajveer, who responded with a smile. (Aree, you are so cute. Who said you are fat? Also, my mom says that children should always be cute like this so that they can stay healthy and strong as they grow up.)
Saying this, Nayantara ran off, chirping and heading back to her friends, while Rajveer sat and pondered over her smart wit and her innocent efforts to make him feel better.
