Author's POV
In the police station, DCP Mihir Rane and his team had taken up the task of setting the goons straight and getting them to confess everything.
"Sir, the lady who was running was caught at the toll gate. They are bringing her here," a constable updated.
The lady behind this plan had slipped through their hands, but DCP Mihir was not going to back down. He had alerted every station and patrolling van.
"What is the update on the men?" DCP Mihir asked.
"Three of them confessed they were paid to follow Miss Nayantara, but they never knew the reason. They have been beaten pretty badly and are left to die in the cells," the constable replied.
"What is the update on Miss Ragini? Is she fine?" DCP asked again.
"Yes, Sir, her wounds are a bit deep, but she will be good to go in a few days," another constable replied.
DCP Mihir had called Prithviraj before they interrogated the woman.
"Sir, do you know this woman?" DCP Mihir asked Prithviraj, showing him the picture.
"I don't think so. Let me ask Meera Ji," Prithviraj said.
Quickly, Prithviraj showed the picture to Meera. "Meera Ji, do you know this woman?" he asked.
"I feel like I've seen her somewhere, but I can't recollect," Meera replied.
"She is the one behind everything, and before the interrogation, we wanted to know if you recognize her," DCP Mihir said.
"Yes, I remember now. She is Vidya. She was in school with me," Meera replied.
"What? That Vidya?" Prithviraj confirmed.
"Yes, Prithvi Ji, but I didn't know she would stoop so low," Meera said in disgust.
"What's the story, if I may ask?" DCP Mihir asked.
"Well, she was in school with Meera Ji, and when our alliance was fixed, we were quite young, so it was all over her school that we were going to get married," Prithviraj said.
"She wasn't like this when we were small, but after my alliance with Prithvi Ji, she started acting weird. She used to shadow me all the time. She started getting on my good side, and I thought she was just a good friend," Meera said.
"But one day, she told me that Meera Ji wanted to meet me at the restaurant and that she had been asked to deliver this message," Prithviraj continued.
"And she had told one of the girls to tell me that Prithvi Ji isn't as good as he seems," Meera added.
"I reached the restaurant, and only Vidya was sitting there. She called me over. I felt weird, but I still went toward her. She was acting strange and touchy, which I didn't like. I had already warned her about her behavior. But she started coming onto me. As expected, Meera Ji was supposed to arrive at the same moment, but her plan backfired because I got up and started shouting at her. Meera Ji came in at that exact moment," Prithviraj said.
"She wanted to separate us. She thought maybe if she seduced Prithvi Ji, she'd get her way. But it backfired, and we learned her true nature," Meera said sadly.
