“Ugh… Who does she think she is?”
“She’s always latching onto him in public.”
“You think she has something going on with him?”
“I asked her the other day. And she had the nerve to deny it!”
“What did she say?”
“ No, nothing at all. Can’t I just be friends with someone? ”
“She’s always been like this. Bitch probably doesn’t want to bother talking with us nor share.”
“Poor Akechi–Kun. I’m way better than that bitch!”
Usually Anja would just ignore these remarks. These girls opened their mouths without thinking. The concept of ‘friendship’ was thrown out of the window when it was a female and a male involved. Regarding the circumstances, it should not look like anything else to them. And it was ticking her off. But it was nothing to waste her thoughts on. Instead she should just move away from this conversation. And under any other circumstance she would have. However, when hearing the next part Anja froze for a moment.
“Don’t forget that she’s also a crossdresser.”
Crossdresser!? That word… Just hearing it made her want to clutch on the skirt she’s wearing right now yet she stopped herself. Though it had her frozen in place regardless…
“Crossdresser? What? Is she a guy?”
“I dunno… But I’ve seen her wearing guy’s clothes too when out.”
“What!? No way!”
“Yeah yeah! I heard that she started in middle school! Wanted people to call her by another name too whenever she did.”
“Wait what? Ugh… That’s disgusting~”
“Right right?” A laughter in between by the group of girls as they passed by Anja, though they seem to ignore her. “Hey, you think if we tell Akechi–Kun he’ll be disgusted enough with her?”
“That’d be too obvious. But I bet he’d think of her as disgusting too~”
“Yeah. She’s suuuuper creepy~”
“Oh totally.”
And then they chuckled.
She had listened to it. Every single word. And all she could do was listen to it, then let out a quick scoff. Ignore these voices, they don’t know anything. Not like they could understand anyways… Crossdresser, that word evoked so many things within her. She couldn't stand hearing it. She knew that these girls didn’t know, knew not much better. No one did nor ever will. It wasn’t that simple… And yet, all of that always made her think, wonder if she really was a weirdo and a creep.
Father had always assured her of it when having opened up to him about it first. “ If that’s how you feel, then it is how you feel. Let no one tell you otherwise, alright? Only you know how you feel. Can’t say I understand but if it makes you happy… I’ll call you Luka too from now on. ” – It wasn’t weird, he said so. And she honestly trusted his word on it. It was the first positive response she had gotten in this matter. And yet whenever hearing it… It would eat her up, bit by bit. A weirdo and a creep… Most said so when they happened to know. So they couldn't let anyone figure it out.
