When having been suddenly texted by them, Goro was at first not in the mood. This all was just getting frustrating. Those damn Phantom Thieves are getting in the way of everything. But no matter… He was going to have to deal with them while maintaining his public image… And make sure that everything is going smoothly. He couldn’t afford any hiccups after all. And he wasn’t going to do that. But a text from them was the last thing he needed. He was ready to shoot them down for the day, claiming that he was ‘oh so busy’. But the message he read had put him on sudden alert.

‘Hey. Can we talk? I want to discuss something regarding the Phantom Thieves.’

That’s all it said. The Phantom Thieves again? They were sure getting invested in this. But he would blow his cover if he didn’t inquire information from them. And besides this was getting out of hand… Of course this idiot would get themself involved! Of course they would try sniffing around! This was all this was! And he didn’t want to deal with them either! What a pain in the ass! Despite being told to keep out of this… That little…

‘Sure. But I don’t think we should do it over the phone.’

‘That’s what I was thinking. The café nearby Central Street?’

‘Works for me.’

‘Alright. See you there in a moment.’

Just what was this idiot doing?

But Goro couldn’t ask himself that for long. As frustrating as this was, they were really pushing it now. He knew it all too well… To his surprise they were surprisingly observant. Just the other day they could see how he was reacting to the crowd. And that time where the two were talking they had mumbled something about being sick of his smile. They didn’t say it but he knew it already – They were not buying into any of his crap. So they knew that something might be up. So if they were getting their nose in there somehow… Needless to say he wouldn’t know how to handle them. He tried keeping them at a distance yet they always come back too. He didn’t have any control over this situation and he hated it. Yet what he hated more was the following question of theirs…

“I would like to help you with your investigation!” Anja said, suddenly bowing in her seat. “Please! I’ll do what I can!”

Help him in his investigation? Seriously!? The nerve! “Uhm… Where is this coming from all of a sudden?” He asked, allowing his surprise to at least slip.

“Oh! R… Right. I should explain that.” They noted, lifting their head back up to face him. Needless to say they were serious… And it would turn out that they knew something was up here. “It’s… I did mention that I used the Phansite before, right?”

“Yes, I recall that.” What were they—

“And… Well… I asked the target earlier today. About how they changed their mind all of a sudden and started making an effort to improve.” They explained so calmly, it was almost unsettling. They really went that far though!? They weren’t close to the answer but… It was going to kickstart something, wasn’t it? “The answer… Was weird. Let’s just say that.”

“Weird you say…” Goro mumbled, pretending to think. And well, he was thinking… About how to get rid of them! But at the same time… Hah, they just have to put him on the spot now. And if he shooed them away, they would just return or do it on their own. He already knew that… Wait, if that is the case then… Maybe he could regain some control. As long as he kept them close… And this offer would be the perfect excuse. “Elaborate.”
