Another day, another Palace. Come to think of it, when was the last time they had dealt with one properly? Not since their first one, Ishikawa Miyuki's. Sure, they had been visiting Okumura's Palace as well yet that was only a detour at most and finding out something unpleasant. Yet it was not an actual attempt at visiting a Palace on their own, to break in and deal with its ruler. They had only done it once, then never again. So it had them a little surprised that pipistrello would suggest something. Then again, it may have been part of the plan all along. It was hard to confirm at that point in time. They didn't know what was going on in that being's head for the most part. Yet it was making an interesting suggestion, as unexpected as it had been.
"So, do you remember our conversation from a few days ago?"
"We had several conversations. You need to be a bit more specific than that."
"Oh, the one about the dear Miss Prosecutor."
"Nijima–San?"
"Yes, that one. Her behavior is odd, isn't it?"
"I... Really don't want to talk about her right now. If I can help it, I would ra—"
"Want to visit her Palace?"
"No tha— Wait, her Palace!?"
It had been thrown at them out of literal nowhere. Sure, they recall that Pipistrello had hinted at that possibility before yet it had now said it out loud. Her? A Palace? It... Didn't sound too far off yet also hard to believe all the same. This woman? It would be too good to be true. Especially with what it had brought up next...
"Yes, her Palace. You're tired, aren't you? Have her stubborn attitude trample all over you and others. It's exhausting, isn't it?"
"I... Can't deny that but—"
"I'd say that you have all the reasons to go, don't you? Change her heart and make your life easier."
"Changing her heart for that?"
"Well, if you need another motivation... It would make everyone's lives easier too, wouldn't you say? Have her be less of a nuisance and all."
Was it bait? Yeah, they couldn't deny that. This being knew how to bait them just fine, even during this conversation. Yet they had found themself accepting anyways when it had put it that way. After all, it was a bit of a pain to deal with Nijima–San... It would maybe benefit everyone around, wouldn't it?
"Great~ The courthouse should be close by to the station. It'll be a quick hop, won't it?"
"Y... Yeah but... Wait, the courthouse? Why that building specifically?"
"You'll see soon enough."
It had been decided, right on the next day as well, the 29th of October... They knew where the courthouse was, having been there plenty of times. Actually, that was the only reason why they were able to manage so many visits to Nijima–San directly. The station they were working at and the courthouse were literally right next to each other which was honestly very convenient. It made communication way easier and everything went by more quickly. Yet they were uncertain why Pipistrello had been suggesting the courthouse in the first place. But they knew better than to question that thing at this rate.
So, they just went with it. It was not just them who had been arriving there. Ole was close by as well, as soon as he had probably overheard what was going on. That or he was notified by Pipistrello in time. What mattered was that he was right there as well, standing right next to them and waiting. He didn't speak but... He was a cat here, he couldn't speak. Which made communication between the two a little harder in the real world yet they would manage. After all, they had to enter the Metaverse somehow, then it would be smooth sailing from here.
