Ah, this day was yet another exhausting one. Or so everyone may believe. For Miyuki herself? It was just any regular, old day. Do one chore after the other, keep up the smile and have it so sickeningly sweet on your face. Always have a polite response ready, the same tone. The same boring lines every single time, making one feel like a record. But it was what this life was like and there was no escape from it. The same boring oddity. Her parents had always warned her.
"You better behave yourself! Consider yourself lucky that we even let you stay with us! So don't you dare behave like an ungrateful brat!"
It was always the same thing in Miyuki's ears, the same old dance she had heard. Honestly, even thinking back on it didn't make the tea in her hands any more appetizing. No, it tasted like the same hot water as it always did. The same old brew, no change even there. Honestly though, what did it matter? It was not as if she was going to finish it in the first place. Yeah, she had other plans for this tea. Of course she just couldn't complain or she was being an 'inconsiderate brat' again. After all, who took the time to brew some time to make this flavored hot water brew? One of the house personnel of course. And those efforts should not be criticized. After all, they take the time to brew something for this lowlife of a woman, a woman who should not have even existed in the first place. The result of nothing but a fling but the mother decided to keep the baby anyways and raise it.And that meant showing just how much of an angel she was to not get rid of Miyuki but instead embrace her into the family, make her a fully fledged member.
Oh how she could puke at those words. This meant nothing in the grand scheme of things. A generous woman, just because she decided to keep her baby at the time? Yeah right... Well, if there is one thing she has over someone else it's a mother who is alive. But what is it worth if this woman was a piece of garbage herself? Yet she was also the one in power so Miyuki couldn't really do much if she wanted to remain in her position. Honestly though it left her all bitter in the end. Nothing but bitter She could care less to be completely honest. But connections are valuable in this world so she couldn't let go of that status either. Just behave in her eyes, then you can get away with anything. Just as something like this...
Because from one moment to the next Miyuki's hand just so happened to slip at a moment. Just as one of the maids of the household was passing by, about to ask her if she had everything she needed to enjoy her tea and unwind for a bit... That was when she just oh so suddenly had a hard time grabbing onto the cup. It moved in her hands, back and forth, and she tried oh so desperately to catch it. That was to no avail however and the cup with the boiling hot tea flew right into the air, only to hit the maid's head and have it drip right down all of a sudden. The hair, the face and parts of the dress, it was all ruined but that was probably not the worst part.
The face the maid made... Miyuki looked at it, faking an innocent, clueless and guilt filled expression, one of shock. That was the face she was supposed to be making after all. And yet, when she covered her mouth with her hands for a short moment she couldn't help herself but smirk, just for this one second. It was a surprise that this insignificant maid in front of her was holding back any painful screams. It had not been the first time it seemed, maybe she was used to worse pain than that. And yet the grimaces she made... Miyuki just knew that the pain she must be feeling right now would be immense. Boiling hot water anywhere on you? It would burn like hell, even if only for a short moment. So she was certainly a brave one for not screaming. But that's about it.
But that hidden smirk faded quickly and she got back into the character of the 'polite, proper, grateful young lady', just as it is expected of her. "Oh no! I didn't mean to do that! I am so sorry!" She apologized, though those words were as shallow as they could be. She didn't mean it, not a single letter in that sentence she just uttered.
And what did the maid do? Snap? Freak out? No, of course not. That would be impolite. Instead she just shook it off with a smile and said: "Don't worry about it Young Lady. It was an accident after all."
"But I got you all dirty, didn't I!? And it has to hurt a lot!"
"I won't deny that but—"
"Please seek help immediately! We don't want you to get any burns! Oh, and wash yourself too of course! I will ask someone to bring you a spare uniform immediately!"
The maid only blinked at Miyuki but of course she would. Usually maids would be pushed around, they were worth not much in the eyes of a rich family. Just some replacement house personnel. But to her? Well, they were replaceable... Yet there is no need to replace something which isn't broken yet, is there? "Milady, that—"
"No, I will not hear any more protests! Should Father have something to say about this, I will take all the blame. Your current state is my fault after all!" Oh it was her fault alright. And she was a little proud of it to be honest. "Now go!"
"Y... Yes! As you wish!" This little doll was certainly surprised and had even left the room just like that. She didn't even question anything despite this not being the first time this had happened. Oh how naive. But also how a doll should behave, just as told. She was just one of several toys. And Miyuki? She took joy in that fact alone.
So as soon as she was alone her expression shifted fairly quickly, a grin on her face. Oh this was a sight she would never forget. Hurting little dolls like that... It was probably the only thing making her feel something in this sad, pathetic life. The pain of others was one she relished, no matter how small. And if it was her fault for someone's demise? That makes it even better.
So why should she be sorry about any of this? She was never going to be, not even if someone forced her to do so.
