Traveling through Mementos… Driving through the underground and seeing it in a different light. It was the exact opposite of how it looked within everyday life. No crowds, no people – Only shadows and monsters occupying the rails and roaming around. All types of distorted desires coming here, too small to form a Palace of their own yet big enough to manifest right then and there. Usually the group goes down there to work on smaller requests or problems, those of the everyday people. Of course the priority was to take care of criminals and those who are rotten, the Palaces as a whole, but that didn’t mean that they could slack off on these tasks either.
“ We can use this to not just spread our name and give more people hope but it is also good training for future operations! Don’t slack off, you hear? ” Morgana would always tell them… Always looking at Ryuji when saying this on top of that. Then again that was probably the usual…
And today was such a day yet Ann had a bit of a hard time focusing at first. After all, each battle and request they tackled was not the one they were discussing earlier. Sure, there was no priority over the other but time was ticking, wasn’t it? It had her almost nauseous… So many what ifs went through her head. The thought of someone losing someone important before knowing it… She can’t help but have this feeling literally nag at her. This can’t be happening, can it? No… Calm down, panicking won’t do any good! It might make things worse a—
“Panther? Are you alright?” She heard Mona’s voice echo through the car. Well… He was the car Makoto was currently driving actually. So… Well… Regardless, it got her out of the clouds and made her break her silence.
“Huh!? Y… Yeah… I’m fine.” She said yet her tone probably told a different story.
“You’re as kind as always, worrying about someone in need…” She heard him mumble. Or ‘mumble’ because that was far from mumbling. Anybody could hear it to be honest. “Ahem! I mean I understand that you are worried but try to focus! I’m sure that we will be on time!”
“I hope but—”
“Man, you gotta take it easy sometimes!” Someone would interrupt the conversation, this someone being Ryuji. “It pisses me off too but trust me, thinkin’ about it ain’t gonna make it better.”
“Ey Skull! That–”
“No, it’s fine. Really.” She interrupted before it could escalate. There was a point to that. Worrying didn’t really do anything in the end. Yet still… The fear didn’t just disappear when hearing that. All the battles, all the work already today… What if everyone was exhausting themselves? What if this was the only shot? What if— Oh look, Ann is doing it again… Hah, she needs to let it go already. “I need to get it together! Right, full force! I will gi—”
A sudden crash. The car came to an abrupt halt, making everyone in their seats launch forward for a moment before being launched backwards and Mona was growling in pain. “Wha— Ow! This still hurts!” He even complained.
“Sorry! I couldn’t stop in time!” Makoto would apologize before her eyes seemed to launch to the front window, eyeing what was in front of them. And when one would take a closer look they would see this… Strange wall. Or portal? Either way it was massive though it was not the first time the group had taken in the sight. In fact it was one which was all too common when looking at it. The way to another room. Was that—
“Ah, there’s the Shadow I’ve been sensing.” Mona said after having seemed to calm down from the moment of pain. “Are we going in?”
