If one was to believe that something like this would get past Goro then they would be greatly mistaken. Though he didn't expect to deal with something right after getting rid of Okumura... Or being very close to. Truth to be told he had to wait for a little longer yet that was no big deal whatsoever. He was pretty much used to it. This would kick in sooner or later after all. Nothing to worry about. But there was something else he had to worry about...
It had not gotten past his attention, that there was someone who had been eyeing him as he was just getting rid of another pest. Someone was watching him. Yet when he had turned there and tried to look who it was from that spot he found no one. Yet he was certain that someone had seen him. If he knew who it was maybe he could have silenced them with no issues. Yet they had escaped, leaving him a little frustrated. And he didn't even know where to start.
Was it any of the Phantom Thieves? No, they had all fled pretty much instantly. But if not one of them, who else could there be? He was pretty sure that no one else had access to the Metaverse. At least not as far as he knew. Then again, maybe he had missed someone or something. It would take him a bit to figure out who it could be... But he would lie if he said that he didn't have his theory.
Once again, it did not get past him how odd a certain someone was behaving recently. And 'conveniently', it fits right into the timeline of him having taken steps into Okumura's Palace and getting rid of that Shadow first hand. And if it had been just that, maybe he would have been ready to just call it a coincidence and this one would behave normally again in a matter of days. However... He was not ready to look past that, not in that other case. The case involving Ishikawa Miyuki.
Because just what are the chances of the following chain of events? They sneak into the Ishikawa residence as Anja, dig up some proof to confirm that it was Miyuki who was behind the murders and killed their father, only to get captured yet one day later Miyuki shows signs of a 'change of heart' and hands Goro all the evidence. And Anja just so happens to be right on the scene when all of this has happened.
They were 'lucky' to have hit the nail on the head. But lucky with what? Uncovering a crime where the truth had been hidden all along? Their 'gut feeling' just happened to be correct? What nonsense. It was not luck. They had done something to influence this outcome, most likely not without help. He knew for a fact that there was not even a chance that they were a Persona user. He didn't sense it from them yet there was also another factor coming to mind. The reason why his name appeared on the Phansite was nothing but a joke to him. Then again, they had no idea to begin with, did they?
In any case, they had not awakened one, that much he could tell. So if they had access to the cognitive world in any way, it has to be the doing of something beyond his comprehension. Because there was no way that a mere person like them could survive Shadows on their own. They would die in a matter of minutes. Yet here they were, alive and well.
But there was also the possibility that it was all by mere chance. That this all was a coincidence. That they just so happened to be at the right place at the right time. Or the wrong place at the wrong time. After all, it was nothing but an accusation. He had to admit that much. He had nothing to hold against them. Yet it stuck out to him, he couldn't deny that. And if that was true they would get themself into hot water. And that was something he didn't need. They were already under observation for being responsible for catching Miyuki red handed.
Just what were they hiding? He pondered about it more than he would like, even when just observing them from afar at that point. They had kept their distance recently, making him only watch them. It was often Officer Sato who kept them occupied now, as if instructing them. Perhaps the man felt guilt for failing them and their father initially. Yet that was not Goro's problem in the end.
He just knew that something wasn't right. They kept a safe distance from him recently. He couldn't just walk up to them and confront them, that would give himself away. No, for now he had to keep watching them and wait for a slip up... Anything to confirm that it was them who had witnessed his actions in Okumura's Palace. Only then may he reveal to them who he really was... He had no other choice anymore.
