"Pff... You're weird. But I guess that explains how you stick around Goro. Don't tell me you trust him. He would backstab you on sight. This brat holds no value for anyone. Are you that stupid?"
Words which should hold no weight whatsoever held weight in the end. They wanted to forget, shove it aside. Yet they didn't, not for the past few days. Even though they honestly wouldn't describe their circumstances as trusting the one in question...
They had said it as well to that Shadow. That this was not a relationship build on trust. Which is why things had been a little more complicated than they should have been. They were not ignoring their own emotions, not at all. They knew that there was something. However, at the same time they also knew that they had to push it all aside. Feelings be damned... They couldn't let themself be blinded by emotions of any kind. They couldn't let themself be blinded by selfish desires – How they wanted to be closer, wanting to forget this moment as well as the circumstances. Just allowing themself to be a little hopeful, allow their heart to race as it should. Or as they heard that it should.
They weren't oblivious to their own feelings. It was a little unbelievable to them as well, that the guy they had practically paid no attention or mind to was now the one who kept them up at night with the mere thought. The mere reason they decided to keep playing this game, a game they should have quit long ago. It could only go downhill... But they didn't stop. It was their only chance to get closer.
Honestly, even when they say 'no' to anyone it was a lie. And most seemed to have caught on, at least those close. Maki was someone who kept pushing it little by little after all. Yet they couldn't be this selfish...
Honestly, it was all just a mess. They shouldn't feel this way and they were trying not to. But everyone could probably see that they did. Did any of this even make sense? They weren't sure anymore... How can they fall for someone despite knowing that it was a mistake deep down? Love like this wasn't simple, of course it wasn't, but... Being this complicated? They couldn't help themself, or so it felt like. They weren't sure how to describe it. It was hard to put it into proper words. For them there was just something about Akechi... As hard as it was for them to explain properly.
And it was not just humans who saw what was going on... Because there was someone else who had the audacity to point it out, rather suddenly nonetheless.
The voice would echo from out of nowhere, luckily whenever they were alone. And right now they had been as they had kept close tabs on the Phansite. Popularity rose and rose after all, the approval rate of the Phantom Thieves growing steadily, up to 90%. A massive jump compared to when they had first visited the site. It was at 30% or something... Not a lot. But since the Medjed incident the jump was just... Massive beyond belief. And that was why they had kept on scrolling, though looking at it with a lack of enthusiasm. That while the same words echoed in their head, over and over...
"Hoho, looks like you're keeping yourself busy Lukie." An all too familiar voice would echo in their head, in the real world. Honestly, it was still a surprise that Pipistrello could just do that. Yet they weren't going to question it in any way. At least not anymore. Though their gaze turned left and right before responding, just to make sure that no one would hear them or someone might think that they are talking to themself.
"You could say that I guess." They then finally said.
"Doing nothing but sit in the cafeteria and looking at your phone, at the same site. Is it really that interesting to you? Are you a fan of the Phantom Thieves too?"
They rolled their eyes as they leaned more onto the table, stretching both of their hands while staring at the screen on their phone, the Phansite wide open. "No, nothing like that."
