The decision had to be quick, they knew. They only had maybe a day. No, less than that. They had to be very quick about this. But when considering all the factors, they might know what path to take. It was a no brainer actually. But if they were completely honest... Their choice had not mattered to begin with, had it? Even if they had said 'No, I don't want to attend that festival' they would have had to find the time anyways. Because just as they had been trying to acquire if they were going to be excused for those two days, they had gotten their answer pretty quickly. Right on that Monday too.
"Ah, about that? Don't worry Wolf–San, we have already been notified. You will be excused for that day. It's important work after all, isn't it?"
They... Couldn't believe it. They had been excused without their knowledge. Before they could ask someone had gotten ahead of them already and gotten them permission to miss out on those two days. Because of 'important work'. And when they had asked who it was... Well... Let's just say when they had seen this person in the afternoon they would dash over right away upon entering the hallways of their current workplace, not even thinking twice about causing a scene. Though some of the other officers around had probably taken a glance at the very least.
"Akechi–Kun! What did you do!?" They did not shy away in the slightest, though still in disbelief. Did he seriously—
"Me? I didn't do anything out of the ordinary." He only responded, smiling as if he had not just done something behind their back. As if he had not just cornered them and had given them no choice but to tag along, whether they liked it or not! Not like they had any different plans by then but...
"Nothing out of the ordinary? Then why did I hear that I was going to be excused tomorrow and the day after tomorrow!?" They were still in shock regardless. What was he thinking!? No, really, what!? Just getting ahead of them like that... Unbelievable...
"I just thought of asking ahead for you as well. Just in case."
"I... I could have done that on my own!" What was this situation!? Ah yeesh! it was almost as if he wanted them there! Though that was probably not it... But then again... Hah... "Wait, did you assume that I was going to come along?"
"Well, you are my assistant."
"Wha— Since when!?" That—
Though they then heard a chuckle escaping his lips, much to their own dismay. "Calm down, I'm joking. We're nothing but co–workers after all."
"Y... Yeah..." That's all, yes. Co–workers, nothing more.
"Did you plan on not attending?"
"W... Well..." They tilted their gaze away for a moment. How were they even able to look him in the eyes now? "It's... Not that I didn't... I just could have done it myself."
"So you will come along?"
"Guess I got no choice now anyways... Hah, just let me handle stuff like that next time." Talk about making a move like that. But in the end it wasn't anything bad. Saves them the trouble, probably. "Guess we'll discuss the details later then or something..."
That was a turn of events they did not expect in the slightest.. Goddamnit. Curse that guy sometimes.
