Meeting the boyfriend

Maya and Carina have a daughter who is 16 and just now starting dating. She hid the relationship for a while because she knew her moms didn't want her to date but she decided it's time to come clean.

Eleora's POV
I am freaking out! I have to tell my moms that I have been talking to my now boyfriend Kyle and he officially asked me out. I feel like my moms are going to freak out when I tell them so I am really nervous about this conversation. Kyle and I go to school together and he is a great guy! He's so nice and caring, hilarious and is on the baseball and football team. We started hanging out more after school and he would walk me to the station of hospital. He officially asked me to be his girlfriend but he wants my mom's permission as well. So now I'm going to tell them and see what they say.

We are all about to eat dinner together since both of my moms are home early from work. Everyone's moods seem to be good so hopefully this goes well!

"Eleora how was school and practice today?" Mom asked.

"It was good, I got an A on my bio test and then practice was hard but it was good. I think we will do good in the game tomorrow." I said.

"So mom, mama. I want to ask you both something." I said nervously. Both of my moms stop what they are doing and gave me their attention.

"Um...okay I'll just say it. So I know what your feelings are on it, but I wanted to tell you that I have met a boy who goes to my school. And we actually have been talking for a few weeks now. He's super great. He's so nice and smart and funny. He's an athlete as well and plays in the football and baseball team. Anyways he wants to officially date me, but he wants your permission first." I say super fast.

My moms just kind of stare at me, almost like they are processing what I just said. Even my little sister Lucia is shocked. My mom Maya looks kind of mad right now so I start to get nervous.

Carina's POV
Right now I am shocked at what Eleora just told us. I mean I had this little feeling because she is getting older and she has been on her phone a lot recently and hanging out with her friends outside of school.

"Okay Bambina, um wow that was a lot. I don't really know what to say besides asking why you didn't tell us earlier?" I said.

"Well I just assumed you guys would say no to me dating because you both say I need to focus on school and sports but I really like this guy. I wanted to see how it was going before I told you both." I look over at Maya and she looks mad. I grabbed her hand under the table and give it a squeeze. I know she's going to have a hard time with this.

"Well I'm glad you told us, what is his name?"

"His name is Kyle, he's a year older than me, but in the same grade. He's really great and respectful. I just want your approval before we start dating." Eleora said which I'm proud of her for saying that.

"So you decided to ignore the dating rule that we have?" Maya said annoyingly. I looked over and gave her a glare and she stopped talking.

"No I'm not necessarily ignoring it, that is why we are discussing it. This is why I was scared to tell you mom."

"Okay girls let's calm down." I said to end this fight about to happen.

I look over to Maya to see if she wants to say anything but she keeps her head down and keeps eating. I just frown at her because I can tell Ellie is nervous about what she wants to say. If it was up to Maya, none of our girls would ever date. Maya wants to protect them but it's not real life.

"Well piccola, why don't mom and I talk about it tonight and we will have a discussion with you later." I say. She nods her head and finishes up her dinner. Maya is done and puts the plates away and starts to clean up. She hasn't said a word all night! The girls go upstairs to finish their homework and get ready for bed soon. I walk up to Maya and sit at the island in front of her to talk.

"Bambina why don't you tell me what you are thinking about since you haven't said much all night." I said.

"I'm just surprised, I mean Eleora knows our rules about dating and then she goes behind our backs and does it anyway." Maya said frustrated.

"Well I agree with you that she should have told us earlier but she's a teenager. Of course she doesn't want tell us, she is probably scared how we would react. But let's be honest Bambina....is the no dating rule for her or for you because you don't want to see your baby grow up and date people?" I asked and Maya slumped her shoulders and looked down.

"I think you are right Carina. I just don't want to see her get hurt. She's my baby girl, and I know how teenage boys can be. I'm just afraid." Maya said. I walked around and hugged her.

"Well let's go talk to our baby about this boy and see what good boundaries we can come up with."

Maya's POV
We went upstairs to Eleora's room and knocked on it. "Come in."

"Hey sweetie can we talk?" She nods her head and sits on her bed.  "Are we going to talk or are you going to yell at me?" She asks.

"Eleora I want to say sorry for how I reacted earlier. It wasn't fair to you when you were just coming to us about him." I said. Eleora raised her eyebrow surprised at what I said. Goodness she looks just like Carina. I have been worried about boys breaking her heart when she's the one going to do it.

"Piccola. Mom and I want you to enjoy dating, we just don't want you to grow up too fast on us. You will always be our baby girl. But we need to set some boundaries." I said.

"Okay like what?"

"First, we want to meet this Kyle, you can bring him here for dinner. Then if we decided to let you date him, you will have a curfew. We don't want you to lose sights of your academics or sports." I said.

"Yes ma'am. I promise I won't! You guys will like him, I know you will." She said all excited. She jumped up to hug us.

"Okay well we are going to bed, so we will talk more about this boyfriend situation tomorrow. We love you goodnight." Carina said.
