It was getting late at night as Hawks was flying with his wings spread wide open over the town of Musatufu. He looked behind him and smirked as he didn't see his work study student, Mizuko, tailing him on her cloud. He was known as the hero who was too fast for his own good so he knew that she would never be able to catch up to him, no matter how hard she trained. This was their fourth day of patrolling and third late night training. It would've been their fourth night of training but Hawks wanted to help Tokoyami last night. Mizuko was getting faster at flying during her training but she had never caught up to Hawks yet. Nothing of value came of their patrols for finding clues of Eri's location either.
Hawks then turned his head forward to then see a familiar blue haired student sitting on top of her cloud while panting in and out of breathe. Hawks' mouth was wide opened as he stopped propelling forward and just flew in place, amazed at how she accomplished her foal.
This kid, how did she do that?
Mizuko looked up at Hawks with determined eyes as she was finally catching her breath.
"I flew around the tower here and used the momentum of the turn around the building to propel me towards you. I did it Hawks. I flew almost as fast as you. I caught up to you. Do you think I'll be fast enough to save Eri once we find her?" She asked taking a shallow breathe between her words.
Hawks looked at his tired and worn down student. She was doing all this so she could save that girl? She was pushing herself every night to ensure she would be fast enough to save Eri. As Hawks was looking at her, his heart sank because he knew would have to use her for information soon. It hurt him because he was really becoming fond of his trainee. He could tell how genuine her heart was to become a hero despite her traumatic past. She had that passionate selfless drive that their hero society needed. He loved messing with her and riling her up too, that was just a bonus.
Shit, why is she making me actually enjoy being around her? I have to focus on my mission. She knows something about that human Nomu. The president said it could be the downfall of Japan. I need to get information out of her. Mizuko, I'm sorry, but I'm just here to use you.
Hawks turned on his persona and laughed looking at his exhausted student. "Well color me impressed! You actually caught up to me , little chick. I'd say you're plenty fast enough to save Eri now.."
Mizuko was clinging onto to those words that she was fast enough to save her. She had to be.
She looked up at Hawks with such admiration. Her eyes beaming with pride and with a stupid smile on her face.
"Really Hawks?! You think so?!" She asked almost like a small child asking for a parent's approval.
Hawks wasn't expecting that reaction from her. She usually was annoyed with him half the time. Usually, he deserved it since he willingly pissed her off on purpose for his own amusement.
"Sure do. I wouldn't have scouted you if I didn't see something special in ya. I mean I did find you interesting since you faced a Nomu and survived being held captive by All For One..." He then flew down towards UA as Mizuko followed him on his descent
They both landed on the ground right outside the gates of UA. Hawks was looking down at his trainee as he was careful with how he worded his next words.
"Hey little chick. You were with the villains for a bit, right? I heard a rumor about this human Nomu. There's been rumblings about it in the pro world. Rumor is that All For One has one or is trying to create one ..."
Hearing the words Human Nomu caught her off guard. Hawks could see her body freeze and shudder. He knew by her body language that she had to know something, she must've been lying to the president of the HPSC like the president said.
