Two weeks. It was two weeks since Todoroki talked to Mizuko. After the Sports Festival was announced, Todoroki put himself back into his walls. He would barely even look at her. She would try to act like everything was okay even though Shoto said she wasn't her friend. She confessed to him her family's past and he revealed his own family secrets. Did that mean nothing? He felt comfortable enough calling her Mizuko and then next day, their friendship was null and void.
She said to Todoroki before that she wanted to genuinely be his friend and she would help him rise to the top if he taught her how to lower the temperature of her quirk to produce ice. Todoroki held up his end of the bargain but is making it hard for Mizuko to finish up her end of the bargain. Mizuko got to know the real Todoroki and she knew his behavior wasn't really him- it couldn't be. There had to be something making him this way. What friend would she be if she couldn't help him when he needed it?
"Ugh!" She screamed as she released deadly current of water at one of trees at the park where her and Todoroki trained. The tree bent in half at the sheer force.
She had to get stronger for this festival in order to prove herself to the world and the pro heroes. Her father was still letting her practice after hours in the park where she learned to develop ice with her quirk alongside Todoroki. She would've done it in the basement but she actually loved that area even though everytime she looked at the big oak tree, she pictured Todoroki encouraging her like he did that week when they were off due to the USJ incident.
"Getting frustrated?"
Shirakumo whipped her head around to find the owner of that voice. The man was covered in bandages. It was none other than her teacher, Aizawa.
"I guess you could say that. What are you doing here?"
Aizawa stepped down and took a seat under the oak tree. He motioned her to sit next to him. She proceeded to follow and sat next to him. She opened her water bottle and looked at her teacher for his answer.
"Can't I just check up on my students?"
"I don't take you as the warm and fuzzy type of teacher." Mizuko blurted out.
Underneath his bandages, Aizawa's eyes were twitching. She had a point.
"Fair point. You know, after the USJ incident, the police started their investigation. They haven't really turned up much other than the villain Shigaraki is a man child. No other information.. but they are looking into you and your family." Aizawa warned.
Mizuko's mouth went open and she tried covering her face. "Me..? I'm not a villain!"
"Calm down. No one said they think you're a villain. They investigated every person, including the first year idiot that decided to face a Nomu that her teacher couldn't beat and gave All Might a run for his money." She could feel his eyes staring her down.
Mizuko rubbed her head and awkwardly smiled. Not her best idea.
"The villain Shigaraki knew your name... and your father's name, Moya..."
"What?!"
"The police are trying to figure out the connection to your family. Just promise me you will stay safe."
Mizuko stared at her teacher. It was like he was trying to warn her about something but he couldn't say it. She then got up from the tree and grabbed her bag.
"I will. Thank you Mr. Aizawa for everything. I have to head home. Tomorrow's the big day and Moya will be mad if I'm late.." she smiled at him while walking home. She kept thinking about what Aizawa said about her father and the villain. She didn't think there could be any connection.
