Mizuko was super excited for the day. She was fist pumping the air while walking to the train station alongside her boyfriend. She was thrilled to work with Selkie and Sirius again and could only imagine how much they could help develop her ocean quirk. Shoto had told her how he planned to join the Endeavor Agency because he thought it would be wise considering he's the number two hero. Mizuko was worried about it because of Shoto's past with his father but Shoto was able to reassure her that it would be okay and he felt it wouldn't be wise to give up an opportunity to learn from the number two hero. She was most excited to be away for a week from her father, however, she knew she would miss Shoto for that time as well. It was a give and take situation.
"I can't wait to show Selkie how much I've grown since I last worked with him!" She explained to Shoto while nearing their destination.
"Isn't he the one that recommended you to UA? How did you even get affiliated with him?" Shoto asked
Mizuko's excitement died down. She looked at her feet while carrying her suitcase that contained her hero suit. "My dad. Remember how I said he would do anything for me to be the number one hero? I always loved escaping to the beach to be alone. One day when Selkie patrolling, he found me sitting alone by the ocean. He asked why I was alone and I told him to escape from my parents for a bit. We chatted more and became friends. He agreed to help me train my quirk..."
Mizuko clutched her suitcase tightly. She didn't want to remember the reason she ran to the beach that night was because Moya's training went too far. She remembers being so dehydrated and he kept pushing her until she passed out. It was the first time he pushed her to that point.
"Mizuko, you're worrying me..." Shoto stopped walking and grabbed her shoulder.
"I'm fine. No need to worry." Mizuko quickly changed to a smile. She didn't want to worry him.
The two met up with their classmates at the train station. Aizawa was there to see them all off on their week long internships. Aizawa looked over and saw Mizuko talking to Tsu about how much fun the two will have together. She had such a genuine smile on her face and it pained him to know that he had to lie to her and her life wouldn't be the same after this week
"Shirakumo. I hate to tell you last minute news but you have a slight change of plans for your internship."
Mizuko quickly stopped mid sentence with Tsu and turned to her teacher. Her smile went away. Her eyes were intense staring at Aizawa. Aizawa turned away when he met her eyes. He couldn't lie to her in the eye.
This is for her safety.
"Selkie recently let us know that he can only take on one intern. He decided to let Asui join as you have already worked with him..."
Mizuko felt her heart drop to her stomach.
"That being said, a high ranking hero decided to give you a last minute offer. You will be joining Todoroki to the Endeavor Hero Agency. His agency is big enough to take two unlike your other choices..." Aizawa's voice faded.
Mizuko felt the anger swirling inside her. She could barely think straight. She was supposed to train to improve her ocean quirk and now that was just ripped away. And worst of all, she felt Endeavor did this just to piss her off after she insulted him at the Sports Festival.
Mizuko wasn't the only one angry. Todoroki's left side was getting close to lighting up. Sure, he was going to be happy to be with Mizuko during internships but he was sure he was offering a spot to harm her rather than help her. He knew from a young age how ruthless Endeavor's training was and he didn't want to see her hurt. Also, it pained Shoto to see her excitement of being back with Oki Mariner Crew stolen away from her.
