077. THINGS AREN'T WHAT THEY USED TO BE

Chapter seventy seven

"Things aren't what they used to be."

Having gone out, they had left the horses and the bike on the road, as Jesus, Aaron, Katniss and Carl were crouched down by a tree looking at the walkers, dog and Daryl came walking up behind them "that's about hundred thirty, hundred forty of them." Daryl shared "you ever seen them do this before?" Jesus asked "no. Never." Aaron told him "I have." Katniss told them, as they all looked at her "I didn't wanna be right. But..Rosita and Eugene unknowingly went somewhere they weren't supposed to. And now they're paying for it by them tracking them down." Katniss shared "who the walkers?" Jesus asked "something like that. We need to move. But whatever you do, don't turn your back on them and watch their hands." Katniss shared, standing up and walking off "dog." Daryl said, as dog went running after Katniss, Daryl, Carl, Aaron and Jesus followed after them.

Back at hilltop, Alden was putting in some help at the blacksmith but when the gates opened up, he turned his attention to them, Tara and Enid stood there to meet them while Michonne, Siddiq and DJ walked in with new people "where's Jesus?" Michonne asked "out with the search party looking for Eugene." Tara shared "Eugene's missing? Since when?" Michonne asked "I dunno. Thought you would. He went out with Rosita, but wasn't with her when we found her." Tara shared, as Siqqiq stepped toward's Enid "how is she?" he asked "she was unconscious when she got here but she'll be fine. It's dehydration and heat exhaustion mainly. She should wake up soon." Enid shared.

"If she was unconscious the whole time, how do you know Eugene was with her?" Michonne asked "Aaron told us." Tara told her "Aaron's here?" Michonne asked "no, he's with Jesus, Carl, Daryl and Katniss." Tara shared, turning and looking at Alden "Daryl, Katniss and Alden came down from they're mountain with Carol and Henry." she shared, turning back to Michonne "looks like the old gangs back together." she added on, as Michonne stepped toward's Alden "which way were they headed?" she asked "you can pick up their trail, but having been living out there I suggest not to." Alden shared "why?" Michonne asked "let's just say things aren't what they used to be." Alden shared, turning and walking off.

Out there, they were walking through the field, as Katniss was up front with dog and Carl, Daryl walked not that far behind them, as Jesus and Aaron were in the back, but then Katniss stopped, holding her hand out, dog stopped as well along with Carl "what?" Carl asked "that herd's coming toward's us." Katniss shared "I hear it." Daryl told her, pulling out a kitchen timer, he began wounding it up, as he threw it "that'll maybe slow them down. But it's not gonna turn them off course. We've gotta keep moving and find Eugene." Katniss shared, whistling, she headed off to the left, as dog ran after her, Carl, Daryl, Aaron and Jesus followed her.

Back at the hilltop, Alden was helping Henry put the supplies from the blacksmith into the back of the wagon, Carol looked at them confused "I talked to Mr Sutton into an advance on my pay. Got us some nails and screws for you to take home." Henry shared "you didn't have to do that." Carol told him, hugging him, Henry hugged her back "we'll look after him." Alden shared "it's alright, I wouldn't be leaving if I didn't trust him." Carol shared, as Alden turned walking off.

By night fall, it was storming out, as dog was running ahead of them, Katniss walked behind him, as Carl had his flashlight out so did Daryl, Jesus and Aaron, as dog stopped at a building, Katniss walked up to him "go ahead, boy." she told him, as dog jumped up, Katniss climbed up after him, as Carl, Daryl, Aaron and Jesus followed behind, dog walked over to a thing of hay and sniffed around until he started shining and spinning in a circle "move." Katniss told it, as dog jumped off "good dog." Katniss told him, as they all walked over to it, Jesus poked his sword at it and kicked it with his foot "here." he told them.
