Pregnancy.

Lisa and Jennie had discussed or casually chatted about anything they could talk about. However, pregnancy was something they never discussed. Both were unsure of the reason, but it didn't cross them until now.

So, when they heard of the possibility that Jennie might be pregnant, the first person they thought of was Jevin.

'I should be happy, right?' Jennie wondered to herself, brushing Jevin's hair, who had just fallen asleep in their room for an afternoon nap. 'Then why am I nervous?'

If it was true that she was expecting a child, then Jennie should be happy. After all, this child was the fruit of their love. Having a family of her own had always been her dream. People might've told her how foolish and lame this dream was, but she didn't care because that was what she wanted.

So why was she nervous? Jittery at the thought of pregnancy?

Finally, she could go through the journey of pregnancy, birthing, and motherhood. Not that she didn't remember the original Jennie's journey toward motherhood, but things were different now.

'Why... am I scared?' her eyes softened, keeping her gaze on Jevin. "I wonder what Jevy would feel if it came out as positive? We never prepared him, after all."

Jennie let out a deep exhale, retrieving her hand from Jevin's hair. She assisted herself up, sitting on the edge, head turned back to look at her son. She pressed her lips into a thin line before shifting her eyes to the small brown paper on the bedside table.

Inside the brown paper was a box of pregnancy tests Irene Bae bought for her. Although Lucas and Irene promised not to tell a single soul about it, that was the least of her worries. However, she was certain those two were anxiously waiting for her to come out and tell them the results.

'It's not yet confirmed and yet, I already have an urge to run away,' she thought, staring at the box of pregnancy tests in her hand. 'Should I tell him before testing this out? Or should I confirm it first? What if it's negative? He might just get disappointed.'

Jennie idled on the edge of the bed where Jevin was napping. She glanced at the door, lips pressed into a thin line.

'Fvck it.' She jumped out of bed, marching straight to the bathroom to get it done and over it.

She could gather her emotions and thoughts once she had the result in her hand. And with that thought in mind, Jennie read the instructions and went through the process of the pregnancy test.

Meanwhile, Lisa paced back and forth in front of their room with a small paper bag in his hand. He constantly snapped his eyes at the door, wondering if Jevin had already fallen asleep. He couldn't talk to Jennie and discuss this important matter if Jevin was still awake.

'It's almost afternoon.' He stopped, facing the door squarely. 'Also, it's not bad to discuss it with Jevy now.'

A huff slipped past his nostrils, clearing his throat before knocking weakly. It was weird that he would knock on the door when it was his room in the old residence. When no one answered, Lisa carefully opened the door and peeked inside. He had to step in to see the bed, and when his eyes landed on the bed, all he saw was Jevin sleeping on it.

Jennie was nowhere in the room.

"Where..." he trailed off when he heard flushing from the bathroom.

Lisa instinctively turned his attention to the bathroom before he slowly closed the door behind him. Marching inside, he sat on the chair around the small round table near the window. As soon as he plopped his butt down, he huffed quietly.

'I just hope she won't get angry,' he wished deep in his heart, staring at the paper bag on the table before him.

When Kim Jisoo mentioned pregnancy, Lisa didn't want to make a huge fuss about it. However, he immediately excused himself to buy a few pregnancy tests himself. He didn't think about his action and only now did he realize he should've discussed it with his wife.

'She'll be surprised if I told her she might be pregnant.' His face darkened, shutting his eyes in an attempt to get rid of the bad memories they had in the past. 'No. Things are different now. It's not just a result of a one-night stand.'

His eyes slowly cracked open, and his gaze instantly landed on the paper bag before him. His lips were drawn into a thin line, massaging his palm by closing and loosening his fingers.

Lisa thought of many things to console himself and to make himself feel better from all the intrusive thoughts invading his mind. However, he couldn't do anything with his racing heart. He knew Jennie wouldn't be so heartless as to not want another child with him. However, their lack of communication regarding the matter played a huge role in the uncertainty in his heart.

'I think I'm going crazy.' He pinched the bridge of his nose in distress. When he peeked through his one eye, he glanced at the bathroom door. 'What's taking her so long?'

Lisa exercised maximum patience, thinking of the right words he should say once he came face to face with his wife. He used this waiting time to get himself together and gather his thoughts about it. However, when another five minutes had passed, and she didn't get out, deep lines appeared between his brows.

"Is she alright?" he wondered, pushing himself up. He picked up the paper bag as he trudged toward the bathroom, stopping in front of it for a moment.

Inside the bathroom, Jennie's hand trembled as she held the pregnancy test between her thumb and index. Her other hand was covering her mouth, eyes on the line that appeared on the pregnancy test.

A line almost appeared instantly, but from what the instructions said, two lines meant she was pregnant.

She waited patiently as another line gradually grew clearer and clearer until there were two whole lines right before her eyes.
