Meanwhile...
"This..." Tiger's face was not any better than the dead, keeping his eyes in one direction. "... is not what I signed up for."
He cocked his head back, and his eyes slid to the corner. Bear stood at arm's length from his side, purposely not casting the man a look.
"Oy, Bernard," called Tiger lazily. "What the fuck is this?"
Bear didn't answer immediately, keeping his stoic countenance. When his lips parted, only one word escaped his mouth.
"Execution."
"I fucking know that. I'm not blind." Tiger hissed, clicking his tongue as he set his eyes back to the center of the bedroom. "But why am I not told this is the meeting we're going to attend?"
"You didn't ask."
"Fucking cunt." Tiger clicked his tongue once again, eyes glinting at the people in the center of the room.
In the middle of this strangely vast room, as if it was a room of a king, was a set of couches. Sitting in the one-seater armchair was Lisa with his legs resting over the other. Behind him stood Butler Fu. There were a few guards around, but these bodyguards were all Lisa's bodyguards for a very long time. The senior bodyguards passed the thorough re-evaluation they did that Bear and Kim Jisoo led.
If there was a bodyguard who was considered new in this room was Tiger and Bear.
In other words, everyone in this room were people who could stomach everything that Lisa would do. Yes. Stomach everything.
Tiger's eyes veered to the person standing on the coffee table. A noose was wrapped around the man's neck, hands tied behind him, and his feet were also bound to the wooden table he was standing on. His bulging flesh was displayed for everyone to see. And the only thing that was covered was his manhood, as he was still in his huge white underwear.
"Bernard, isn't that your General?" Tiger glanced back at Bear once again. "Wasn't he the person who recommended you to our boss?"
"He is."
Tiger blinked and blinked. "Didn't you have a good relationship with him?"
"Depends on what sort of relationship you're talking about." Bear kept his eyes on the middle-aged man whom he used to work with in the past. "People change, Tiger. You know that more than anyone. In this line of work, one second, a person is your ally until one of you has a change of heart." — which eventually led to enmity.
These things happen all the time, especially in the underground world. Even if their organization was akin to a formidable fortress, Tiger had to kill his buddies just because those so-called comrades had a change of heart and decided to betray Jane. It was the same in this situation.
The General had a good relationship with the Manoban family. However, he suddenly had a change of heart. Whatever his reasons were, he still betrayed Lisa and made a fool out of him.
"General..." Lisa slowly lifted his foot from his leg, resting it on the edge of the table. "... are you still going to keep silent?"
The General, who was almost naked whilst bound by these ropes, shook. His shaky eyes gazed down at the table he was standing on, feeling his heart race out of his chest at the sight of Lisa's feet. If the latter kicked the table, he would die, hung to his death.
"Why... did you turn your back on me?" Lisa repeated the question for the second time, raising his head to look at the man on the table. "What is your reason?"
"Mr — Mr. Manoban... please don't do this." The General shook his head profusely. "You're not this kind of person. Think about it."
"It's been weeks, General. You can guess I had enough time to think about it." Lisa blinked ever so slowly, brows raised to give the man a knowing look. "My question is quite easy, I suppose. Do I have to repeat it the third time?"
The newly retired General opened and closed his mouth, but his voice was stuck in his throat. He had worked with Lisa for years. This look on Lisa's face was something the general had never seen before.
SCRATCH!
The General flinched when Lisa's feet moved the table slightly. "So? Who changed your mind, General?"
"Mr. Manoban, please understand!" The General exclaimed in panic and fear. "I didn't want to make a fool out of you."
"But you did."
"My family!" The general's breath hitched. "My family was in danger! So, I have to do what I need to do as a man in the house! I have to protect them, Mr. Manoban. Please... don't do this to me! The Madam already laid my dirty laundry on the public, causing me to retire from my job!"
"Was she wrong, though?" Lisa cocked his head to the side. "You do not deserve that title, General."
Lisa studied the general's face. How strange, he thought. How could one person look so pathetic in a single moment, when Lisa used to have so much respect for this man?
"You pledged to protect this nation and its citizens, and yet, you did the exact opposite," Lisa continued as his eyelids drooped menacingly. "I understand you have to do what you need to do. However, just like you, I am also a man in my own house."
He paused, shaking his head while keeping his gaze on the general. "My grandma used to say I was too soft, and thus, she can't die in peace. She's right. I was too soft. I turned a blind eye to the rumors about your recent corruption, only thinking of your good side."
"If not for this blatant mockery, I wouldn't realize just how little the good things you did compared to the exploitation you did to your position." Lisa looked around the big bedroom that was twice as big as his own bedroom.
Actually, this entire mansion was bigger than Lisa had. There was no way the general could build such a castle if he didn't accept brides, protection money, and so on.
As Lisa looked around, he put more strength to his feet, making the table the general was standing on move.
"Mr. Manoban... Mr. Manoban... please... don't do this." The General's voice shook as he panicked, staring at the surface he was standing on, moving away from his feet. "I just wanted to protect my family —"
"You want to protect your family at the cost of mine?" Lisa halted him mid-sentence. "General, as I said, I understand you because, just like you, I have a family to protect. If only you asked for my help, we could've worked together, but no."
All the emotions Lisa had disappeared from his countenance without a trace. "You chose to sacrifice my family and almost succeeded. That alone... is enough to make me want to kill you. A thousand times isn't enough."
And in just a breath, Lisa kicked the table away, watching the general cling to the rope around his neck and struggle for every bit of oxygen. The latter's feet kicked on instinct and his face turned redder and redder until his lips slowly turned purple.
