Exploring the LYON Group headquarters was a little fun. Knowing Lisa was running this entire building, Jennie found it amazing. There were for sure thousands of employees in the company. How could he monitor every single one of them? Even if the CEO of the company had his own team who directly worked for him and helped him manage the company, Lisa was still amazing.
"Also... if I'm an employee, I don't mind living in this company," she murmured as she passed through a busy department as if she were a supervisor. None of them noticed her, though. They were all busy in their cubicles.
Jennie smacked her lips, holding her hand behind her as she skipped her steps through the hallway. She already explored a few floors already, and she only had one word for everyone.
Fierce.
Everyone in every department she passed through seemed they were in a contest. They were all busy as if their life depended on their projects. Even those who were taking lunch breaks were reading while walking, or sometimes, they weren't just mentally present. She watched them in the lift, feeling a little sorry that this fierce environment was almost close to toxicity.
As Jennie made her way to another department, she stopped when someone from the restroom came out. She flinched in surprise, swiftly taking a step to the side to avoid the lady from bumping into her.
"Woah!" Jennie instinctively raised her hand, turning her head to the lady who was running away, crying. "Hey, be careful!"
Her lips curved down, watching the lady look back at her and bow as if to apologize. The lady then continued running away, still crying.
"Goodness," murmured Jennie, snapping her eyes to the restroom where the crying lady came from. "What happened to her?"
Normally, Jennie wouldn't care much. However, her curiosity overtook her which led her to go to the restroom. She already had a vague idea of the fierce work environment in this place. Therefore, she wasn't surprised that people would sometimes cry out of frustration. But then again, she was curious if bullying also happened in this place.
When Jennie came into the restroom, there was no one.
"So, she's just crying all alone?" she whispered, rocking her head as she felt a little relieved that the woman wasn't being bullied in the restroom. Bullying always takes place in the restroom, after all.
Just as Jennie turned on her heel, she arched a brow as she caught something from the corner of her eyes. When she turned her head, her eyes landed on a few documents on top of the toilet seat in one of the cubicles.
"Did she forget about her things?" she wondered, marching to the cubicle to take a look at the document. Jennie went through them, seeing they were papers for a project the woman was probably going to work on. "But why did she leave them?"
Her already-arched brow raised even more as she caught a name tag in between the folders. Taking it, Jennie cocked her head to the side.
"She's from the design department," she murmured. "Which floor was it again?"
Jennie hummed and rubbed her chin, shrugging as she hugged the documents. "She'll be in trouble if she loses these things, right?"
With that thought in mind, Jennie carried the documents and then wore the temporary ID to return them to the woman in the design department. She hadn't been there, so, she should as well go explore that department. Doing a good deed from time to time was also good for her sanity.

After asking around, Jennie finally got into the design department, which was on the 40th floor. Quite strange that the woman was on the 30th floor when her department was on the 40th. But Jennie didn't think much about it. The lady was crying, frustrated about something. Therefore, it wouldn't be surprising she was venting somewhere else that was away from her department.
"Oh, I think this is the art department..." Jennie peeked her head to the entrance, only to draw her head back when a person suddenly stepped outside. Her brows rose as the middle-aged man before her also gazed at her from head to toe.
"You're the newcomer?" asked the man without beating around the bush, frowning. "Goodness! These young people these days don't know the value of time. I've been waiting for you. You're late!"
"Uh..." Jennie furrowed her brows. "Sorry?"
Why was she apologizing?!
"Tch." The middle-aged man, who seemed a little haggard as if he hadn't slept for two consecutive days, looked at her in dismay. "Whatever. Come. I'll take you to your desk. Tsk. New hires nowadays. How can you be so late on your first day?"
The man turned around and waved, signaling her to follow him. Meanwhile, Jennie stayed on her spot, unmoving.
"Uh..." She blinked, confused. 'How come they keep misunderstanding...'
Jennie suddenly gazed down, face twitching. Right. She wore a temporary ID.
'My bad.'
"What are you waiting for?" she flinched when the senior employee growled. "You're already late! Do you plan on wasting more time idling there?"
"But --"
"Stop wasting other people's time! That's disrespectful!"
"..." Jennie pressed her lips into a thin line, studying the haggard old man who was looking back at her. "Well, fine then. Please lead the way."
The senior employee clicked his tongue again, glaring at her one last time before escorting her to her cubicle. In no time, Jennie found herself standing in the corner cubicle of the department. The space was small and a little cramped, as some papers were stuck not far away from her.
"This will be your desk from now on. I already explained everything. Do you have any questions?" asked the man to her, only to see her shake her head. "Are you sure? If you have any questions, you should ask now because I'm going on a break."
"It's okay."
"Okay?" the man scrunched up his face but then stopped himself from saying anything. "If that's all, then go do your job. I'm off."
"Thanks, Senior." Jennie bowed slightly, watching the man walk away while waving dismissively. She kept standing in the same spot, glancing at the cubicle that the senior employee told her would be her hell from now on.
"How... in the world did I end up here again?"
