Two weeks later...

Jennie had an idea that the Lyon Group's anniversary was a big thing. However, she realized she underestimated its importance when their department started taking turns in helping with the preparations. Just when she thought the art department was already busy as it was, she thought wrong.

When the art department started making preparations on top of their other work, the entire department was like it was on fire. She could still remember how she barely took a seat that day, running errands across the building to no end.

It was crazy, almost making her want to nag her husband for giving her department a hard time. And now, here she was, tasked with tagging along with a few workmates from the same department to check the venue of the event.

"Damn him," she murmured, hiding herself in the corner pillar while glaring daggers at Kim Jisoo.

Working in this event, it was inevitable for Jennie to work with Kim Jisoo. He was the CEO's executive assistant and, meaning, the head of the CEO department.

"I hate him. May he trip on his own."

Jisoo shivered as he felt this sudden chill waving down his spine. He had been feeling like this since the moment he came into the venue. It was as if someone was watching him and praying bad things for him.

"Mr. Kim, about this area — Mr. Kim?"

Jisoo snapped his eyes at the employee talking to him. When he set his attention to them, all of them were looking at him with curiosity.

"I'm sorry." He cleared his throat and smiled. "Please continue."

"As I was saying..."

Jisoo listened to the team that came today to assist him with the planning. There were a few from the art department, from his same department, and some from another area of the company.

"ACHOO!" Jisoo sneezed loudly, covering his mouth and nose with a handkerchief. "I'm sorry about that."

"Mr. Kim, are you alright?" Bella, from the art department, looked at Jisoo with worry. "We can just send you the proposal on the theme and the planning."

"It's alright."

"Are you sure, Mr. Kim?" Another male employee inquired with genuine concern. Jisoo offered them a polite smile and reassured them not to mind his health.

One thing Jennie realized since she started working in her husband's company was that Kim Jisoo was quite popular. Men and women alike admired and respected him, especially women in the art department. He was even more popular than Lisa. Well, Lisa was rarely seen in the building as he had his own private route that no one else took but himself. It was rare for Lisa to go to the main entrance unless it was convenient for him.

"Tsk. I will never understand everyone," Jennie grumbled, judging this entire team working together for this anniversary celebration. "Can't they see he looks like a squid?"

"Who looks like a squid?"

Jennie jumped in surprise, looking back at the person with shaking eyes. When her eyes met Irene's, the corner of her mouth curved down into an ugly frown.

"Irene, are you a ghost? How can you come up on me like that?" She complained, earning a short chuckle from her friend. "What are you doing here, by the way? Don't tell me you're stalking me now"

"I don't need to stalk my best girl when she tells me everything." Irene glanced at the people in the venue hall, smiling. "I came because this venue is owned by the Bae family. I was told to assist the Lyon Group's representatives."

"Ohh..."

"I thought I was seeing things when I saw you hiding in this pillar." Irene gazed back at Jennie, smiling. "Why are you hiding here? Shouldn't you be with them if you came to check the venue?"

"Well, they can do that themselves. I only tagged along because if I stayed, then I would be running around the building again." Jennie walked closer behind the pillar, peeking her head out to check at everyone. "Also, they can handle it on their own. I'm just an errand girl."

Irene chuckled. "So, what were you mumbling about? Who is this person who looks like a squid?"

"That guy!" Jennie puckered her lips in Jisoo's direction. "Can you see? He looks like a squid."

"You mean Mr. Kim?"

"Who else, duh? He's the only person who looks weird there."

"Really, huh?" Irene slowly shifted her eyes in Jisoo's direction, assessing the man from head to toe. She looked at some male employees who were also wearing suits just like Jisoo, but none of them gave the same appeal Jisoo had.

A squid? Surely Jennie was ridiculous. Hadn't she known that Jisoo looked even better than Lisa? Or was it because Lisa was her husband that she was being biased?

"Irene, what is that tone? Don't you agree with me?" Jennie trailed off as she turned her head. Her eyes landed on Irene's side profile, furrowing her brows upon seeing the admiration in Irene's eyes.

"Hey!" She tugged Irene's arm in panic, making the latter look back at her in surprise. "No."

"No?"

"Yes, no."

Irene's brows rose, looking at Jennie in confusion. What did Jennie mean by that?

"Irene, I don't know what sort of potion that witch-man did to everyone, but don't fall for it," Jennie warned, shaking her head in dismay at the thought of Irene falling for Jisoo's voodoo. "I'm telling you. Jisoo is a big, fat, walking red flag and you two don't match. No chemistry. Zero. Nada."

"Uh..."

"But I know you're a smart lady." Jennie realized and chuckled, releasing Irene's arm from her grip. "Someone of your caliber will not like that squid..."

Jennie trailed off, blinking as she studied the look on Irene's face. She had been friends with Irene for over a year now. Therefore, she knew that look on her friend's face. Jennie would never mistake it.

"No!" This time, Jennie's voice raised as she snatched both Irene's hands, at the brink of facing the horror of her life. "Frienie, please tell me I'm wrong! That guy we've been talking about..."

She couldn't even finish the sentence without making faces. "It's not Jisoo, right?"

"..."

"No way..." Jennie gasped in horror, looking at Irene as if questioning herself if she truly knew Irene.

"Why?!?"
