Many things had happened in the past months since Jevin's abduction. Emotions — fleeting and deep-rooted feelings rose in those long months. That incident was a slap to the entire Manoban family, reminding them they were only humans. Their wealth wouldn't save them if it was their time, and their influence could be challenged at any moment. People could hurt them for many reasons or no reason at all.
Aside from those harsh realizations, there were also good things.
For instance, all of them were able to emerge from that incident. Although they were still recovering their health to how it used to be, their hearts were grateful for this extension of life. They considered it as their second life, a chance to do better than they did in the past. A chance to correct their wrongs, and learn from the mistakes of the past.
And this time, the Manoban family wouldn't take life for granted.
"Young Madam."
Jennie snapped her eyes up, seeing Princess carrying loads of gifts from friends and family. Princess's foot was propped against the door to keep it open, tilting her head to the side as the boxes of gifts were over her.
"You can just put them all over there." Jennie pointed at the corner of the room where the rest of the gifts were.
Without saying anything in return, Princess carefully marched toward the corner. She bent down, placing the gifts carefully on the floor. Today was the Manoban family princess's third-month celebration. Therefore, just like in the previous months, gifts were coming to the old residence like crazy.
It was just the third month, but baby Miracle was already being showered with love. One could imagine just how many gifts she would receive on her first birthday.
"Is that all?" asked Jennie the moment Princess straightened her back.
"Yes, Young Madam." Princess lowered her head, her tone was a bit distant. "I'll go get the rest."
With that being said, Princess didn't waste time and left the room Jennie was idling with the baby. Her baby was sleeping soundlessly in the crib and Jennie was simply knitting to kill time since everybody else was busy. Watching Princess leave without a word made her sigh.
"Until when should I wait?" she mumbled to herself, staring at the shut door as Princess went to get the other gifts for her baby.
Ever since Jennie told Mark and Princess about the truth, Jennie had been waiting for their response. But alas, she received nothing. Fig told her to be patient, and Bear, too. She already told Bear about Fig, and she could still remember his face when she did. But that wasn't important. Bear quickly made peace with Fig, since they both knew what Fig was capable of.
Even so, she was worried.
Princess and Mark stayed on the security team, but they never said anything to Jennie. Those two acted as if nothing happened. It was as if the confession she made didn't happen at all.
"Don't tell me they erased that memory from their minds?" Her frown deepened as she stared at the shut door. In no time, Princess returned, bringing in another batch of gifts.
Seeing the amount of gifts Princess was carrying, Jennie slowly shifted her attention to the corner. There were also a bunch of gifts just for today's celebration. It was doubled than last month.
"Princess, is this all?" she asked with furrowed brows, eyes still on the gifts in the corner.
"There's more."
Jennie slowly shifted her eyes to Princess as the latter placed down the new batch. "There's more?"
"An entire truck full of gifts arrived at the residence."
"A, what?!"
"A truck." Princess slowly turned on her heel, facing the young madam squarely. "Don't worry. All gifts were being scanned before they could get into the residence. So, they're all safe to open."
"I know that..." Jennie trailed off, a little astounded by this news.
The Manoban family had a lot of connections, even though Lisa cut off ties with many people in the past several months. Lisa also said they didn't have to, but all these people insisted. Therefore, they have to accept their gifts. Lisa raised measures, though. So, all gifts and packages that would come into the residence were scanned. It didn't matter who was the recipient. So long as it would enter the residence, it must be vetted.
"Who would send an entire truck of gifts?" she wondered to herself, shaking her head as she thought of a few people who could. "Did Lucas buy an entire toy house?!"
"I don't know, young madam." Princess just shook her head and lowered her eyes. "There's still more, so I need to get them or the gifts will block the main door."
Jennie opened her mouth, but her voice didn't get out of her throat. All she could do was watch Princess leave and then come back with more gifts. Since Jennie couldn't get out and leave her baby, she could only wonder who sent such gifts.
"Right..." she whispered, reaching for her phone underneath the throw pillow on the side of the couch she was sitting on. "Lisa surely knew who it was." — and surely, it wasn't Lisa.
The couple already talked about it, after all. No matter how much they love their daughter, they agreed not to waste money on buying excessive stuff for the baby. They learned this lesson after a month after the baby was born. Children grow so fast, so buying so much would be a waste. It wouldn't fit the baby in just a month.
Just as Jennie was about to message her husband to have some enlightenment, the baby suddenly cried. Jennie immediately perked up, looking over the crib.
"Oh, no, baby." Forgetting to message her husband, Jennie pushed herself away from the couch. She tossed the phone away, marching to the crib to pick up her child. "It's okay, baby. Mommy is here."
She rocked her baby, humming to stop her child from crying, completely forgetting about the loads of gifts that were coming into the room.
