Chapter 523: Chill

[LYON Group's conference meeting]   

Soft applause erupted in the conference room as Lisa introduced the new members of the board. Everyone smiled at the three men standing around the table, smiling back at them for the warm welcome.     

"Many things happened in the past several months. I must admit some things left a bitter taste in my mouth, regretting that years of friendship fell apart just like that. However, I believed it was all part of the betterment of the LYON Group." Lisa, standing at the end of the long oval table, glossed his eyes on everyone's faces. "We lost a few important colleagues who also became our friends and family, but I'm certain that isn't enough to stop the LYON Group from growing."    

He took a deliberate pause, smiling subtly. "I once again want to congratulate our new members of the board. May we all get along well and work together for the same goal."    

Another round of applause erupted in the conference room as Lisa finished his short speech. He then moved his gaze to the side, nodding at Eric and then at Bobby before gazing at the last addition to the board. There were only three new members on the board, so it wasn't hard to memorize their names and faces.     

Despite the welcoming smiles, however, lies odd gazes beneath their eyes. Half of the board of directors didn't know Eric, and thus, they were still surprised at how this man resembled Lisa. The other half were already a part of the board, even during Marco's time. Therefore, they had a vague idea of the black sheep of the Manoban family. Even so, none of them brought up anything that could ruin this moment.     

Everyone believed this should be a good occasion, a step for a better LYON Group. They could discuss it next time.     

"Please, take your seats..." after a moment, Jisoo spoke through the microphone from the corner of the presentation platform.     

Since this meeting was about the new members of the board, Jisoo led the presentation so the new members knew the company's status. He briefly discussed important matters of the company, current projects, and future plans. He also took this opportunity to open up things that needed everyone's undivided attention.     

The meeting lasted for hours with some open debates and such in between discussions. When everything was addressed, Jisoo then invited everyone to tour the building. It had been a while since the higher-ups inspected each department and thus, since they just welcomed the new members of the board, squeezing an inspection felt like the right call.

"Did you see her?" Mark pressed his earpiece while walking through the hallway of the 50th floor. "I've already checked the 50th floor, but I didn't see her."    

"I haven't," coming from the earpiece was Bear's voice.     

"Where are you?"    

"I've checked the ground floor up to the tenth floor."    

"Dang. Where did she go?"    

"I don't know, but I'm already headed to the security. It'll take us an entire day if we check every floor of this building."    

"Hey, do you think she snuck out?"    

"I doubt." Bear maintained a stoic countenance as he marched toward the security room. "If she has other plans, she wouldn't even go in here in the first place."    

"Right..." Mark stopped in the middle of the hallway, glancing at the department within his sight. "Tell me when you find her, but until then, I'll keep checking. I'll ask for Tiger's help."    

"Sure."    

With that being said, Mark ended the call with Bear. He didn't waste a second contacting Tiger to ask him for help. As usual, Tiger didn't answer until the last ring.     

"Hey, sorry, was a bit busy. What's up?" Tiger's lazy voice instantly brought a frown on Mark's face, imagining the former lazing around in his job. At this second, Mark was very sure Tiger had just woken up from his nap. "What, man? Did you call me on purpose, or did you accidentally make this call?"    

"Hey, Tiger. Can you help me find the young madam?" Mark didn't beat around the bush, sighing as he delved straight into his concern.    

Tiger's brows rose. "Huh?"    

"I think the young madam is missing."    

"Was she abducted?" Tiger asked, his voice didn't show the slightest worry. "Don't worry. Based on what I know, she'll get home soon. She can handle it."    

"No, she's not abducted, but lost." Mark's frown deepened, looking up as he thought of something. "We dropped her off at the entrance earlier, but until now, she hadn't reached the CEO's office. Bear is already headed to security to check where she went."    

"Ahh..."    

"What do you mean, 'ahh?'"    

"If Bernard is already going to the security, then there's no need to worry. I'm already here, so I'll just tell the guys to let him access the footage."    

Mark scrunched up his nose, glancing at his phone before putting it back on his ear. "Tiger, is that how you will take care of the situation?"    

"Huh?"    

"The young madam is missing and before anything bad could happen, as the captain of the security unit, don't you think you're too lax about your job?"    

"Man, what else do you want me to do? It's not like this is an emergency. Even if it is an emergency, I don't even have to panic."    

"Don't even need to panic? Wow! So, this is the captain of the security unit, huh?"    

"Uh... what? Did I say anything wrong?"    

"Whatever! It's a mistake to even ask for your help!" Mark aggressively ended the call, frowning deeply. He glanced around, seeing a few employees looking at him strangely. Mark clicked his tongue again as he stormed away, disappointed at Tiger's lack of concern.     

But then again, Tiger's personality was often like that. Matter of fact, even if Tiger knew Jennie was actually Jane, he would be even more lax. He wasn't the person to worry about her. If anything, he used to compete with her or race for who would kill their enemy first.     

'Even so, he's still a disappointment!' Mark huffed angrily. 'Once he found out about the truth, I'd like to see him grovel and apologize for doing a half-ass job!'    

As Mark went to the floor below, he sent a quick message to Kim Jisoo, giving him a short detail of their dilemma in case this would become a huge case.
