"Nope!"
SCREEECH!
Lucas stepped on the brake abruptly, changing his mind for any grand entrance. He leaned forward due to the force of action, gripping the steering wheel with both his hands.
"Are you guys okay?!" he asked as soon as he recovered, looking back at Jennie and Lisa.
Lisa held his wife's shoulder, assisting her from the sudden halt. Both of them bounced back slightly, gazing up at Lucas in the driver's seat.
"Don't do that," Lisa remarked, turning his head to his wife to check on her. "Are you alright, darling?"
"Yes, I'm fine. Thank you." Jennie sported a quick smile, snapping her eyes at the windshield. "Turn off the lights, Lucas."
"Uh... right." As instructed, Lucas turned off the lights to not alert anyone in the abandoned building from their vantage point. He then lowered his head, hands over the steering wheel, eyes on the dark establishment ahead.
"Goodness..." he whispered, sensing this dread creeping up his spine. "This place is something I will never step foot in in my life — where are the other people?"
When that question rolled out of Lucas's mouth, he looked from left to right. He squinted his eyes when a vehicle flashed a light on the side mirror before the other vehicle shut off its light. Meanwhile, Lisa helped his wife unbuckle her seat before he did his own.
"Uh..." Lucas cleared his throat when he caught Jennie immediately getting out of the vehicle, and then his brother through the other door. "We're not thinking of going inside, right?"
Slam!
He flinched slightly when Lisa slammed the door shut, leaving him all alone inside. Lucas gulped, only hearing silence inside the vehicle.
"This is scary," he muttered before he immediately unbuckled his seat, hitching outside the vehicle.
As soon as he did, some bodyguards already went out of their own vehicles. There were only two cars that caught up with him; the rest seemed to lag behind. Well, considering how fast Lucas drove as if his life depended on it, it was understandable the other bodyguards hadn't caught up yet.
"Just them?" Jennie frowned, watching Kim Jisoo step out of the vehicle, only to run away to throw up. She then moved her eyes to the other car, watching Tiger get out of the driver's seat with another one.
'It's just them...' she thought, a little displeased at the other bodyguards who hadn't caught up.
The only people who got in here aside from them were Jisoo, accompanied by Fig and Mark, in the driver's seat. Tiger drove the other car with three more bodyguards with him. In other words, the only people who caught up were the ones her men drove.
'I would've lost hope if not for the fact these guys were simply experienced,' she thought, peeling her eyes from the bodyguards to Lisa. The latter had a grim expression, displeased at the situation.
"Did we drive too fast?" Lucas pouted, only to turn his attention to the dark establishment not far away. They were neither close nor far; their distance was enough not to alert anyone inside immediately.
"Mr. Kim, where are the rest?" Lisa inquired, eyes on the establishment.
Jisoo patted his chest, hand on the tree as he threw up. The bodyguard who drove their vehicle, Mark, drove so fast to the point he had motion sickness. Adding to that was his anxiety spiking. It wasn't a pleasant ride.
"Hah..." Jisoo wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. "... the last time I heard from the General, he said he already sent out a team for the rescue operation. On the other hand..."
Jisoo fished his phone out to check a message from the chief of police. "Some police the chief dispatched had trouble on the road."
"Trouble?" Lisa looked in his assistant's direction. "What, trouble?"
"A road accident, but he said another batch is on the way."
Lisa's expression darkened at the slow progress of the police department. He could understand the delay from the General's end, knowing they would come from the base, which was quite far even if they traveled by air.
"Not good..." Jennie breathed out as she lowered her head, shaking her head mildly. "... so, are we going to wait here until one of them comes?"
"Well..." Jisoo cleared his throat, looking at Jennie apologetically.
"Lisa." Jennie then faced her husband squarely, pointing at the building not far away from them. "Inside that place is Jevy. Our son is almost within our reach!"
Lisa had his lips pressed into a thin line, moving his eyes to the building. Looking at it somehow opened up a deep scar in his heart. A deep wound he wanted to forget, but its scar made it impossible for him.
'I can't wait here just like this...'he thought, balling his hands into a tight fist. '... Jevy...'
His heart thudded against his chest as the overwhelming emotions swelled in his heart. Every second was pure torture, and seeing no sign of help to come just yet, the anger and disappointment grew in his heart.
Vrooom.
Just as Lisa's lips parted to say his decision, his words rolled back into his throat as they heard an approaching vehicle. Everyone turned their heads, only to see the light turn off. However, they all caught the motorcycle approaching.
The big bike screeched, drifting as it halted not far away from Jennie and Lisa's vantage point. There were two people on it. One was the driver and the other one... everyone immediately recognized the other man just with his humongous physique.
"Mr. Cruel?" Jisoo gasped and covered his gaping mouth, watching Bear get off the motorcycle. His eyes went from Bear's head to toe, and despite the lack of light, he could see blood all over Bear's body.
So, it was true? He thought. Based on Bear's appearance, Jisoo could imagine just what happened at the Red Scorpion base. However, unbeknownst to Jisoo, the reality of that gang's fate was far worse than he imagined.
