Aphrodite's Tear.
One of the rarest gems in the world due to the scarcity of supply. There were only a few in the world... three, to be exact. And how did Jane know? Because she owned all those three through foul means.
People called it her obsession and her fondness for sparkly things. Owning all these gems granted Jane unimaginable control over the business. However, unlike what most people thought, she didn't treasure them as much as one would expect, considering what she went through collecting them. After all, she simply collected them because Elena, her mother, set her eyes on this gem and died.
Jane simply obsessed over them because she wanted to give them to Elena. Her mother might've died, but even so, Jane never stopped showing the affection and respect she had for her mother. Hearing Lisa set his eyes on the gem that killed Elena, she couldn't help but recall the bitter past.
"I appreciate it, Lisa." Jennie smiled warmly as she cupped his lean cheeks, staring at him with deep affection. "But you didn't have to get me the rarest gem or anything like that to show how much you value me. You... being with me is enough. Your actions already make me the most beautiful, valued, and loved. If only you know my heart."
She brushed his cheek with her thumb. "However, I don't think the current situation has anything to do with your decisions."
Her eyelids drooped a little, considering his situation. Although he made it quite vague, she already knew what he meant by all of that. Moreover, she was updated about the high amount of death threats Lisa was receiving recently. Those people she dealt with in the shadows weren't worthy of attention, and thus, Lisa wasn't worried.
However, the people she knew who were after him were what truly made her heart restless. Those people would come to Lisa whether he took an interest in this venture or took a different path.
"Those people that are now showing up in front of you were meant to be in your life for the time being, whatever you decide. So, I think you should continue," she remarked after a moment of silence, lifting her eyes to hold his gaze. "Manica is a bad and dangerous place to go, but I heard Noyan is a good place to start."
"Hmm?" Lisa raised his brows, amused. "How did you know about that?"
"I did my research." She poked the tip of his nose playfully. "I was worried and also, I don't want to be so clueless. Of course, I am not as knowledgeable as Mr. Wang, but it's not bad to know what sort of business my husband got interested in."
A smile turned up on Lisa's face, pleased at her efforts.
"I'm not so sure about Noyan, but if you can do your own research." Jennie smacked her lips, planting a soft peck on his forehead. "Don't worry, Lisa. Things will be stable soon, and you're doing great as you always have."
When Jennie drew her head back, all she saw was the deep affection shining in his eyes. He pulled her waist closer, leaning forward to take her into his embrace.
"Thank you," he whispered, tightening his embrace for a second before loosening it. "I was worried for a bit, but I'm glad I can confide in my wife."
"That's what marriage is for." Jennie let out a soft chuckle. "We are a team, aren't we? Your burdens are also mine to carry."
His eyes partially closed as he smiled. "And yours are mine."
"Mhm." Jennie rested the side of her head on top of his head while he stroked her back. "Just do what you always do, my love. Your wife always got your back."
Lisa slowly closed his eyes, relaxing his body against hers. Her warmth transferred through his body, embracing him, and putting calmness in his mind and heart. At times like this, her company was all he needed.
Jennie, his wife, was his calm.
'Perhaps... that advice I said to Mr. Kim was also for me,' He thought, partially opening his eyes. 'I'm glad I took a break today.'
His lips hooked up slightly, closing his eyes once again while Jennie patted his back mildly. However, unlike the gentleness of the atmosphere in the home office and her mild pats, Jennie's countenance contrasted it. Her face was cold and emotionless, eyes sharp, and her mind drifting elsewhere.

The next day...
"I'll be late today, so don't wait for me to have dinner." Lisa flashed his wife a smile, standing under the portico as she sent him off like usual. "You can't let the baby get hungry."
Jennie bit her bottom lips to stop her lips from stretching from ear to ear.
"Mhm," she hummed before she fixed his tie. "Are you forgetting to fix your tie? It's always crooked."
"If I do it correctly, then you won't fix it for me."
Jennie looked up, only to see his playful grin. "So mischievous. There you go."
"Thank you, my love." Lisa leaned over, planting a soft kiss on her lips. "Why do I miss you even before I leave for work?"
"Hehe." Her cheek turned pinkish, winking at him as he drew his head back. "That's enough. I can feel Mr. Kim glaring at me for holding you here for too long. I'll see you later."
"Mhm. See you." Lisa looked at her lovingly for a moment before he bent down, planting a kiss on her belly. "Daddy will see you later as well."
Watching him, Jennie's eyes softened. Lisa caressed her stomach briefly before giving her another kiss and left. She remained standing outside the mansion, watching Jisoo open the door for Lisa and then the former jogging his way to the front passenger seat.
"Bye~!" she waved, seeing the rear lights lit up. "Take care."
A smile was plastered on her face as she watched the car speed away from the driveway. Sending Lisa off to work was a routine they had grown used to. It was always like this. She would stand here until the car was out of sight, and Jennie would then start her day in the greenhouse.
However, just before the car passed through the gates, it exploded.
