When Lisa arrived and saw his wife watching everyone carry boxes of gifts, she gave him a brief explanation of those gifts. One truckload of gifts came from Lucas. Lisa didn't need to teach his brother a lesson because Lucas was already suffering. The servants didn't let the second young master idle, making sure he wouldn't run away and hide.

Jennie also mentioned the other truckload came from someone close to her. When Lisa asked who it was, she didn't hesitate to whisper the name of the other culprit.

Surprised at Mark's grand gesture, he didn't have a lot of comment on it. It was understandable. Thus, he quietly watched Mark help everyone out. Although he wasn't whimpering or throwing tantrums like Lucas, the exhaustion plastered on his face was evident. In other words, Mark was also suffering from his grand gesture.

The third truck, on the other hand, came from someone no one expected.

Eric.

Sitting around the dining table, Lucas glared daggers at Eric. He just heard who sent the other truckload of gifts, and the moment he heard it came from Eric, he made sure everything was scanned thoroughly.

Who knew what sort of things he put in them?

"Thank you for the gifts, Eric," Lisa's monotonous voice pierced the building silence in the dining hall. "I didn't expect that you'd bother to prepare so many gifts for my kids."

Eric, who was on the far end of the long rectangular table, offered Lisa a smile. The latter was on the right end while Grandma Manoban was on the host seat on the end. They took their seat according to the family hierarchy, with Marco across Lisa while Chittip was beside him. Right next to them was Lucas, and from this spot, he could see Eric in full view perfectly. Lisa, Jennie, and Jevin sat across from them while Baby Miracle was being taken care of by Dara.

"I lived abroad for many years and I missed a lot of celebrations," Eric said in a knowing tone. "I have to make up for all those missed years for Jevy. I also want to spoil the little princess of our family."

"None sense!" Lucas harrumphed. "You're only doing this because you want to provoke me again!"

"Lucas, that's a bit of a stretch." Eric chuckled. "Why would I do that? I learned my lesson the last time and in all honesty, it's too much to say it's a charge for experience."

The frown on Lucas's face deepened, not buying all the nonsense Eric spewed just now. Although Eric made sense with his reference to that last time he caused trouble in Lucas's company, Lucas wouldn't fall for this man's bullshit!

"Why is he here?!" Lucas turned his head to the couple across from him. "I thought tonight's dinner was only a family dinner?"

"Lucas, Eric is still family," said Lisa calmly. "I invited him here."

"What?" Lucas gasped in dismay, casting the insufferable Eric a look, only to see the latter smiling. "But why?! We've never been a family to him!"

"Miracle went through a lot before and during Jennie's pregnancy." Lisa maintained a subtle smile as he looked at his wife. Jennie was also smiling back at him before he faced his brother again. "She's a miracle of this family and thus, for her sake, I want to keep this family as one. Eric might've made mistakes in the past... just like all of us. So, I think it's time for us to forgive each other and ourselves for our imperfections."

'Bullshit!' Lucas bit his tongue when he felt a slap on his thigh. When he turned his head, all he saw was his mother giving her a warning look.

"Your brother is right, Lucas." This time, Marco Manoban nodded in agreement. "We are not getting any younger anymore. Lisa and Jennie's family are also growing. We shouldn't let the new generation carry the burden of our unaddressed issues in the future. For their sake, we should learn how to forgive and be grateful for the everyday miracles in our lives."

A gentle and understanding smile turned up on Marco's face, reaching for his wife's hand as they looked at each other. "Months ago, I thought I would lose my family. But thanks to everyone's patience and prayers, I was given a second life. When I woke up, I had many realizations."

"One of them is that I don't want to die with heartaches," he added in the same tone, eyes on Lucas and then at Eric. "We are a family and we have no one else to turn to other than our family. We should stick and solidify our family's foundation, so whatever turmoil from the outside force, it might shake us, but it will never break the Manoban family."

Grandma Manoban rocked her head approvingly. "I still blamed you for making that boy spoiled, but I'm glad you can now see how rotted he had become."

"Hah?!" Lucas gasped once again, hand on his chest. "Grandma, I'm not rotten! Jevy can vouch for that."

"Grandma, don't be like that to Lucas." Jennie couldn't help but chuckle. "I owe Lucas many things. He's been there for everyone when we practically lived in the hospital."

Her eyes softened as she stared at Grandma Manoban before shifting her eyes to her little brother. "He used to be spoiled, but he matured. I guess it's just his nature to show grand gestures to our children. It can be sometimes overwhelming, but it also put my heart at ease that my children were loved by their uncle."

"Hmp!" Grandma Manoban huffed. "Now even little Jennie is siding with him."

"Grandma, how can you be so harsh only to me, eh!?" Lucas pouted but then giggled since his sister-in-law took his side. "Sis, I made sure to separate my gifts into another room. I can help you open them with Jevy and Miracle!"

"Sure." Jennie grinned, glossing her eyes over the faces of her in-laws before her gaze fell on Eric. "Thank you, Eric. I'm sorry if we had misunderstandings in the past. I know this is abit late, but I hope we can start on a clean slate as well."
