[Old Residence]

"I see," Jennie chuckled, standing right beside Miracle's crib. She turned her head to Bear, who was standing several steps from her. "So, Bobby got into the LYON Group somehow?"

"With his clean record? Yes." Bear rocked his head, as this news was already decided. "It would be announced in the next board meeting."

"So, in two days?"

"Yes."

"Well." Jennie drew a deep breath as she shrugged. "He probably didn't want to become a bodyguard."

"He didn't want to be paired with anyone else. Especially not with Tiger."

"Bobby disliked being ordered around."

"He only listens to you," Bear remarked, recalling what sort of man Bobby was. "Lisa Manoban... I understand why Bobby reconsidered. Lisa intrigued him."

"Is that also your guess as to why Wolf agreed to meet him?"

Bear didn't answer as he maintained his attention on her figure. Jennie was just looking at her daughter with a gentle smile, reminding him of how Elena would just stand right beside the crib while looking at baby Jane. They were truly alike. Now that Bear thought about it, Jennie and Lisa's relationship was starting to become like Elena and Vicenzo's.

The late Elena and Vicenzo used to go on missions together. Whenever those two were together, they were unstoppable. They didn't even need backup to secure success in every mission. However, when they had their daughter, Elena would always stay in, working in the inner structure and management of the family. Meanwhile, Vicenzo focused on the field and outside business.

It was just like Jennie and Lisa's setup right now. Lisa was the shield, the face of the entire Manoban family and Lyon Group, and also the bait for all his enemies. Meanwhile, Jane stood as the sword that was tucked right behind the shield, ready to thrust and slice through their enemies at any moment.

'In the end, she still changed Lisa,' Bear thought, remembering Lisa's changes in the past several months.

Although from the outside, Lisa still appeared as calm and collected as he used to appear, no one knew what was in his mind anymore. Bear was still disappointed in him for making her cry, though. But Lisa was slowly redeeming himself.

Looking at her quietly, another thought came across him. 'But then again, she always influences the people around her for the good... or worse.'

"Bear, can you look after Miracle for a while?" Bear's brows rose as she faced him. "I'll just take a quick shower. I can't take care of her — I stink."

"But --"

"Don't worry!" Jennie quickly jogged her way to the connecting door, waving. "I'll be quick. Look after her and don't make her cry!"

"..."

Bear opened his mouth to stop her, but before he could say another word, Jennie already shut the door. A deep exhale slipped past his lips, gazing at the crib several steps from his vantage point. Ever since Miracle was born, he only gazed at her from a distance. It was strange that he already loved the child and promised to protect her. But at the same time, he was scared to come close to the baby.

"Huh?" His brows rose as he caught little hands over the crib.

The little fingers were spread, reaching for something. When Bear veered his gaze up, he caught the toys dangling over the crib.

"Was she trying to..." he trailed off as he heard a short sound coming from the crib. The sound resembled the noise children made before crying. And he was right. Just after a few seconds, Bear heard a loud cry from the crib.

All the reluctance he felt in watching over the child disappeared as he rushed to the crib's side.

"Waah!! Wahh!!"

Bear's breath hitched the second his eyes landed on the three-month-old baby in the crib, crying. The baby looked a little irritated, probably annoyed her sleep was disturbed.

"How do I..." Bear glanced at the toys dangling over her, reaching for it to shake it. "Don't cry. Look. They're moving."

"Waah!!!"

His lips curved down with slight panic flickering across his eyes. Bear clicked his tongue, a bit annoyed at Jennie for leaving the child to his care. She truly took after her mother. How could she leave her child in his care just like how Elena would make him babysit her daughter?

"Don't cry," he muttered in panic. "Your mom will come back in a bit. She'll be quick."

But alas, the child was still crying. What did he expect? That she would understand him?

Bear thought of carrying the child to stop her from crying. However, it had been a while since he held such a young child in his arms. He was afraid he would hurt her unintentionally. Jennie would definitely kill him, even if it was not his intention.

As Bear was running out of options, he caught something from the corner of his eyes.  He slowly turned his head and his brows rose the second his eyes landed on the toys placed on the couch.

Meanwhile...

Jennie enjoyed the moment of peace dipped in the hot water in the tub. Her stiff muscles relaxed as the warmth of the water embraced her body.

"He'll be fine," she murmured to herself, leaning her back against the curve of the tub. "How can he not even come close to his granddaughter since she was born?"

Jennie slowly reopened her eyes, breathing out heavily. She stared at the wall before her, smiling at the thought of Bear taking care of Miracle. She heard from Lucas that Bear was in the nursery when she gave birth and that he had never left the area.

From Lucas's point of view, Bear was trying to compete with him as well. But from her perspective, Bear was just making sure no one would touch the baby or do something that would throw them in a spiral.

'He did it for Miracle and also for everyone's sake.' A subtle smile appeared on her face, grateful that she delivered Miracle safely and that she was safe until now.

[Don't lose the baby.]

Those were the words that were still embedded in her mind. Eric's remarks several months ago.

"Considering Primo lost an entire arm..." she whispered as her smile disappeared. "... we had a lot of time to prepare and secure our family." — but it had been months already. If Primo survived Joker's 'gift,' then the man would come out of his cave soon.

"You're mine," came under her breath as a menacing glint flickered across her drooping eyes. "No One."
