"You're more family than he ever was"

"Brooke. Brooke cmon I'm sorry! I was frustrated babe!" He groaned, following Brooke around like a lost puppy as she angrily cleaned her room.
"Not helping your case" She smacked her lips in annoyance.

"Why did you have to bring Claire into the conversation at all-"
"I lost my mind okay?? I was pissed after seeing Jack after so long!"

"And so you took it out on me? You said I was cheating on you with your brother. You accused me of that in front of everyone!" She crossed her arms.

Shawn calmed down. His demeanor softened. "I know. And I don't deserve your forgiveness. Cause I did act like the biggest dickhead. But then again, I really am sorry. I'm just...I don't know what to do. My sorry excuse of a brother is back in town. And I-" he stopped rambling for a second. "forget it. It's my problem, I'll go home and deal with it"

Brooke sighed, keeping aside the half folded shirt she was carrying.
She didn't want Shawn to face— whatever things he was facing— alone.
"You promise this is the first and the last time this happens?"

"I swear I promise!" He exclaimed, immediately jumping to squish her, without letting her speak.

——
"It's Magnesium Oxide" Brooke said to Shawn, as he scribbled the answer down in his book.
He'd dragged her down to his trailer because he, in fact, did not want to be alone.
They both were sitting on the dining table, solving Chemistry problems, as Chet sit on the third chair, fixing a toaster with his screwdriver, ignoring Virna's pleas about just buying a new toaster.

"So. How was your day, Boy?" Chet casually asked, keeping the screwdriver aside.
"Just another day" Shawn said monotonously, his eyes glued to the book, as his grip around the pencil tightened.

"Anything out of the ordinary?" He looked at Shawn.
"Just another day"

"You know I like this talking we're doing" Chet sarcastically said as he rolled his eyes.

Shawn opened his mouth to reply but he was cut off by the doorbell.
"Oh I got it" Brooke stood up only to feel a firm tug on her wrist.
"Don't. I know who it is" he sternly whispered.
"It's fine, you're a guest. Sit back down." Chet grinned before getting up himself.
He went and opened the door. "What can I do for you?" The man, oblivious of who the person he was talking to was, had a small smile on his face...until he realized. And he stiffened.

He'd recognize those eyes anywhere.
"W-Well...look at you..."

"How are ya?" The younger male asked, fidgeting with his fingers.
"I've been good..." Chet paused. "This is a surprise!" He beamed, having already processed the situation.
