Sickie: Seungmin (puppy hybrid)

Caregiver: Felix (+3racha)

No one's POV.:

"Once again from the second verse", Chan's voice came over the speakers, his eyes not leaving the computer screen in front of him while Seungmin took a sip of water and braced himself. The vocalist had been recording for hours, but for some reason, he just couldn't seem to get it right. He knew he wasn't just being his perfectionist-self, Chan would always tell him if he was but today, the leader too didn't seem satisfied with his dongsaeng's singing. The music started once again but when it was time for him to sing, Seungmin remained silent. Turning away from the mic, he cleared his throat and reached for his water bottle with a trembling hand. Voice choking up, he forced out: "Sorry, there's a frog in my throat." – "Alright, let's take ten", Chan announced, "You've been going without a break for over an hour already."

With a huff of frustration, Seungmin shouldered open the recording booth door and made his way over to the studio couch. Tiredly plopping into his seat, he lifted the water bottle to his lips once again but lowered it when a scratchy cough forced itself up his throat. "Are you feeling alright", Chan asked softly as he turned his chair to face the younger. Seungmin nodded and massaged his throat, admitting: "No idea where this is coming from." – "I mean, you have been singing for hours, so...", the Aussie hummed. Taking a seat next to Seungmin, Jisung handed him a lozenge and smiled: "You sure do have stamina." – "This feels nice", Seungmin sighed as the menthol flavor coated his tongue and numbed his strained throat a little.

"Do you want me to get you some tea from downstairs?", Changbin offered as he watched Seungmin relax into Jisung's side. The younger shook his head. He didn't want the break to end up any longer than it absolutely had to be because he hated inconveniencing anyone, especially at work. Clearing his throat, he smiled: "Let's get this done, hyungs. I got this." – "Are you sure? You can rest a little more, you know?", Chan frowned but the younger was insistent. Though Seungmin himself wasn't the slightest bit satisfied with the way it had turned out, 3racha eventually sent him home, completely ignoring his protest to give him another attempt.

He was still upset and frustrated when he returned to the apartment he shared with Felix. The dancer was already home, slightly confused by the attitude with which his dormmate dumped his backpack by the door. By the time Seungmin arrived home, his throat was undeniably on fire. His head had started to hurt too on the way home, but neither of those things bothered him as much as the thought of his mediocre performance on their new album. "Hey, everything alright?", Felix worried, catching the other before he could disappear to his room. Forcing a smile, Seungmin nodded: "Just a frog in my throat and a shitty recording session. Hyungs wouldn't let me re-do it though." – "Want a hug or be left alone?", Felix asked, knowing not to push the younger when he was upset with himself. Biting his lip, Seungmin muttered: "Option two for now. I'll be in my room." While the vocalist disappeared to his room, texted Chan to get the leader's account of what had happened.

As soon as Seungmin made it to his room, he shut the door and leant his back against it, running a hand through his hair as he allowed his puppy-ears to pop out of his scalp. It had cost him quite a bit of self-control to keep them hidden for so long when he already wasn't feeling well but he couldn't have his group finding out. Him being a hybrid was his best-kept secret and a successful one at that. He doubted he'd ever have made it as an idol if anyone knew that he wasn't fully human. Days like this were hard though. Making his puppy-like features disappear gave him a headache on a good day and god knows, today was anything but a good day. Seungmin was pretty sure he was running a fever by the way chill ran down his spine. Him feeling cold was a rare occurrence and always cause for concern. Sluggishly dressing in very loose sweatpants, that'd also allow room for his tail, he plopped onto his bed and contemplated his options.
