sunshine baby (pt 2)

The ride to college is long, and tiring. Mum pressures me about what clubs im going to join and dad is singing along to every car on the radio. Im too happy with matt to even care. I remember the feel of his lips on mine, and i know we're going to be okay.

When our car pulls into the unloading area, with about 100 cars behind i start to panic. There is alott of new people. My phone buzzes and a text from matt pops up, " i just boarded the plane for LA, i love you so much my love!" i smile and tuck my phone into my short pocket.

A few hours later and fight with my new comforter im all settled into my new college room. My roomate Mindy is a sweet girl, all the way from Texas. She welcomed me with open arms, and so did her parents.

I say goodbye to my parents and i swear i see tears in my dad's eyes, but i have nothing but a huge smile plastered on my face. " i love you guys." i say kissing my mums cheek.

" we love you honey, and we are immensely proud of you." they smile. i wave as they pull away, blowing so many imaginary kisses.

Me and Mindy do a target run and we tell each other everything about back home. By 11 pm im in matts hoodie and ready to FaceTime.

"call me, i want to speak to you my love."  matt texts. i face time him and im greeted by a wall.

" matttt! turn the camera!" i whine. " oh sorry baby." he turns the camera and im faced with a huge smile. " you look handsome." i say. he smiles and says i look pretty. their house isn't fully unpacked so i compromise and show him my dorm room.

" im just going to erm, get some water." Mindy says leaving the room.

" matt i miss you so much." i say, he pouts, setting up his phone on his desk giving me his full attention. " i miss you too baby, but i will visit you before you have chance to miss me." he promises but i cant help myself from pouting.

" but i already miss you." i say matter of fact. " i know baby, i miss you too." he replies. we talk for another half an hour until i get sleepy. we say our goodnights and i take my toothbrush and things to the bathroom to get ready for bed. On the way back to my room i see a couple in matching college hoodies, they're kissing and i guess i stare a little too long because the girl is pulling a sour face.

" can we help?" she says disgusted. i shake my head, stammering for an excuse. i will be avoiding her forever.

TWO MONTHS LATER!

Im making my way back from my english lecture and i see my door is slightly open, my eyebrows twist in confusion as i push the door open, i see 3 brown haired boys on my bed.

" HEY GUYS." i squeal jumping into matts arms, kissing his entire face. " damn, she only misses matt." nick scoffs. i laugh and hug both of them.

" i missed you all, oh my god. What are you doing here?" i say, holding back excitement.

" we can go if you'd like?" Chris fakes being annoyed. " oh shush, i love you guys." i say. smiling so hard my face hurts.

Mindy walks in and as soon as her blonde hair appears Chris is practically staring her down. "
oh hey Mindy, this is Matt my boyfriend, and his brothers Chris and Nick." i say pointing them out. She smiles and hugs each of the boys.

" shall we all go for food, i could eat." i offer, everyone nodds. they grab their stuff and i head for the door, " you coming mindy." i ask, her face lights up and we head to dinner.

After we've all caught up, we head home. The way home feels much quiet, knowing i wont be seeing matt for long, a couple of days max.

About an hour later im at my desk, starting my reading for class and someone knocks on the door, Mindy is showering so i open it. It's matt. he's dressed up, nice jeans and a button up shirt.

" get dressed, were going on a date." he says, handing me some flowers that were hiding behind his back. I wear a floral dress and write a note for Mindy telling her I'll be back later.

Matt drives us to the beach front. the sun has already set but theres still a slight glow, matt grabs a blanket and some ice cream and we sit on the bench near the sand.

we eat ice cream and talk about our separate lives. I miss being together all the time but this is awesome, he sees me staring for too long, " whats going on in your head baby." he says, tucking some of my hair behind my head.

" i just miss you." i say, smiling faintly. " i miss you too, but were doing great." he reassures me.

After another beat of silence he pulls out a little bag from behind him. i gasp and he smiles, kissing my cheek.

" open it." he nudges me. i carefully open the bag and see a small ring box at the bottom. i open it and the cutest promise ring sits in the box, a small peice of card sits in the bag.

" you are my forever, my love."

i squeal and matt slides it onto my finger. i practically pounce on him and kiss his face. Tears stream down my face and he looks confused.

" Baby?" he asks. " im not upset i just love you." i say. he wipes my tears and kisses me. The ride back to campus is quiet but i cant stop admiring my ring. I love matt.
