Y/N'S POV
I was still in shock. My eyes froze on the familiar figure seated comfortably at the dining table, next to my cousin Xander — none other than Song-hee. The same woman who once obsessively chased Taehyung, the same woman who tried everything to tear people apart just to get what she wanted.
What the hell was she doing here?
"Hello, my dear sister," Xander said as he stood up from the chair, flashing that annoyingly fake smile. He walked toward me and gave me a half-hearted hug I didn't bother to return.
"Long time no see, hmm?" he added as he pulled away, his voice light but still laced with arrogance. I stayed still, my body rigid.
Then his eyes flicked behind me — to Taehyung.
"Kim Taehyung," he said with an amused grin, strutting up to him. "So, you married my sister."
Taehyung stared at him — cool, calm, unreadable.
A slight smirk curved on Taehyung's lips as he adjusted his sleeves and replied flatly, "Yeah. And fortunately, I didn't need your permission... or your opinion."
Xander's grin faltered for a second.
"But good to know you finally learned how to greet people without shoving them into mud," Taehyung added — casual, but laced with memory and menace.
My lips twitched. Classic Taehyung. Smooth and subtle, but his comebacks could sting worse than a slap.
I glanced toward the dining table again. Song-hee was sitting there, all dolled up like this was her runway. Her expression? Calmly smug — like she knew her presence was going to mess with me. And maybe it did, but not in the way she wanted.
Because no matter how much she wanted to shake me, she never could. I never gave her that power.
She tilted her head and smiled faintly at me. I didn't bother faking one back.
Just great.
Dinner was going to be a storm. And I was more than ready for it.
Before the awkwardness could fully settle into silence, Xander clapped his hands together and stepped back toward the table like he was hosting some kind of show.
"Well," he announced, voice a little too loud for the room, "since we're all gathered so... lovingly, let me introduce someone very special to me."
I already knew what was coming.
Taehyung stiffened beside me, and I could almost feel the sigh he swallowed back.
Xander gestured dramatically toward her, like this was some grand moment. "Meet my girlfriend, Song-hee."
Song-hee smiled — soft, calculated, smug.
Like she had won something.
Like this was a power move.
I didn't react. I wouldn't give her that satisfaction.
Taehyung gave her a glance, nothing more. The way his hand brushed against mine beneath the table, grounding and subtle, was all I needed.
"Wow," I said flatly, arms folding across my chest. "You really do know how to recycle trash, Xander."
Xander blinked. Song-hee's expression faltered for a second.
But I wasn't done.
"Is this your way of making up for all the bullying you did as a kid? Dating people who were obsessed with my husband?" I added with a raised brow.
Taehyung bit back a grin. I could feel the corner of his lips twitch.
Song-hee's fake poise cracked just enough for me to see the fire burning underneath.
I didn't mind. Let it burn.
She could sit across from me all night and pretend all she wanted. But I wasn't that quiet, naive little girl from back then. And Taehyung? He wasn't hers to chase anymore.
He never was.
But just when I thought the worst part of the night was over...
MOM said something that made my stomach drop.
