The soft beeping of the monitors was the first sound she registered as consciousness dragged her back into the world. Her eyelids fluttered weakly, and the blurry ceiling came into view. For a moment, she didn't remember where she was. Then the smell of antiseptic. The IV in her arm. The weightless flatness of her stomach.

Her heart clenched.

Her hand flew instantly to her belly. Empty. Too light. Wrong.

Her breath hitched in terror.

Before she could panic further, a warm, trembling hand closed over hers.

"Y/N..." Taehyung whispered, voice hoarse and cracking.

She blinked, turning her head. His face came into focus — messy hair, swollen red eyes, exhaustion carved deep into every line of his beautiful face. Her heart lurched at the sight.

"Taehyung?" she breathed, voice barely more than air. "W–what happened? My babies... where are my babies? Why—" Her voice broke mid-sentence as fresh tears welled.

Taehyung cupped her cheek, shaking his head quickly, trying to soothe her panic.

"They're okay. They're alive, angel. They were delivered early through emergency C-section," he said gently, wiping her tears with trembling fingers. "They're in the NICU right now. Fighting. Strong... just like their mother."

A sob of relief escaped her. She tried to sit up, but pain shot through her abdomen. Taehyung immediately helped her adjust, his touch gentle as if she were made of glass.

She looked deeply into his eyes — and the pain there struck her harder than the beating she endured.

"Why do your eyes look like that?" she whispered. "Did you... cry?"

He gave a powerless little laugh — the kind soaked in heartbreak.

"What do you think happens to me when you're fighting for your life? I thought... I thought I lost you..." His voice failed. He buried his forehead against her bedside, gripping her hand as if anchoring himself.

A doctor stepped in, relieved to see her awake. He checked her vitals, explained the surgery, reassured her that recovery was going well, and then, noticing the couple desperately needing a moment, he excused himself quietly.

The room fell silent except for the soft hum of machines.

Taehyung slowly lifted his head to look at her again. She brushed his cheek, wiping the tears that kept falling.

"You saved me," she whispered.

"No," he breathed, sliding a hand behind her head and kissing her forehead with a gentleness that shattered her heart. "You survived. I only carried you out of hell."

She gave a weak, emotional laugh. "My hero."

He leaned closer, their foreheads touching. His hand caressed hers, his thumb tracing the ring he had put on her finger. Then slowly, carefully — terrified of hurting her — he kissed her. It wasn't dramatic or rushed. It was slow, deep, and full of a desperate love that had been hanging by a thread all night.

When he pulled back, she closed her eyes for a second, trying not to burst into tears again. "I want to see them," she whispered. "Our babies."

Before Taehyung could respond, a nurse opened the door shyly.

"Mr. Kim... would you finally like to see the babies? You're allowed inside the NICU now, sir."

Y/N's eyes widened. She turned to Taehyung, confused. "'Finally'? What does she mean?"

The nurse, not realizing she should stop talking, continued innocently, "He refused all night, ma'am. He said he wouldn't see them unless you opened your eyes first."

Y/N froze, shocked.

Taehyung shut his eyes tight. "I wanted to see them with you," he admitted, voice raw. "I couldn't hold them while you were still fighting. It felt wrong."

She stared at him — this cold, fierce CEO who looked ready to burn the world for her — and her chest filled with a love so fierce it almost hurt.

She smacked his arm with her weak hand. "Do not intimidate the nurse! She's helping us!"

The poor nurse gulped and bowed before quickly leaving the couple alone.

Y/N looked back at Taehyung, but her expression had softened. "You're unbelievable," she whispered — but love poured from every word.

"Unbelievably in love with you," he corrected, brushing a kiss on the back of her hand.

He helped her sit in a wheelchair, adjusting blankets around her protectively. Slowly, carefully, he pushed her down the hallway.

The NICU doors opened... and their breath caught.

Tiny incubators. Soft lights. The gentle beeping of heart monitors. And inside one incubator — a tiny baby boy with soft dark hair, so small it hurt to look at him. In the next — a little girl whose eyes fluttered as though she sensed her parents arriving.

Y/N's tears dropped immediately. "They're so... tiny."

Taehyung placed a hand on the glass, voice barely a whisper. "Our son. And our daughter."

Love filled the air — fierce, overwhelming, eternal.

Nurses helped Taehyung with the protective gear. When he finally got to hold their baby girl, his hands trembled, terrified yet unbelievably gentle. Y/N leaned close to him, brushing the baby's tiny fingers with awe.

Taehyung's lips wobbled as he whispered, "Hi princess... I'm your daddy."

His voice broke completely.

Y/N placed her head against his shoulder, crying softly. He kissed her hair, overwhelmed.

Their parents arrived soon after — and joy, relief, and sobs of gratitude filled the room as they saw the babies alive... and Y/N awake.

The nightmare wasn't gone — but this moment... this was heavenly.

Hours later, when Y/N was settled back into her room, Taehyung's phone rang.

Unknown number.

His eyes narrowed. He answered quietly, stepping aside.

"Kim Taehyung speaking."

A voice replied — official, tense.

"Mr. Kim... we have found something regarding Mr. Xander's case. You need to come immediately."

Taehyung's jaw tightened.

His eyes slid to Y/N, peacefully dozing, her hand resting protectively over her stomach — where their children once lived.

A storm burned behind his gaze.

"I'll be there," he said coldly. "And this time, whoever did this will pay."

The line disconnected.

Taehyung turned back to his family — and kissed Y/N's forehead gently...

Not realizing that the real war had only just begun.
