For a moment, neither Taehyung nor I moved. Seeing Xander and Song-hee standing there on the beach felt like the universe playing some cruel joke. Taehyung's arm automatically tightened around my waist, pulling me a little closer as if shielding me from their existence alone.
Xander pushed his sunglasses up his nose, smirking. "Aww, sister, you look shocked. Didn't expect us here?"
Taehyung's tone was calm but sharp like a clean cut. "Actually, I'm shocked Jeju even let you two in. Must be a slow season."
Song-hee's jaw tensed. "Funny, Taehyung. Didn't know you grew a sense of humor."
"Oh, I didn't," he replied casually, brushing invisible sand off his shorts. "But you two bring it out of me. Must be the clown energy."
I placed my hand over my mouth to hide my laugh, but I knew Song-hee saw it — her glare was proof enough. Xander's expression twisted too, but he tried to cover it with a forced smile.
"Anyway," I said sweetly, flipping my hair, "we'd love to stay and chat... actually we wouldn't, but it's cute that you thought we would."
Taehyung shot me a proud look like I had won some invisible award.
I stood up slowly and he immediately helped me, placing his palm on the small of my back. "Come on, love," he said loud enough for them to hear. "Let's go somewhere where the air isn't contaminated."
Song-hee scoffed so loudly the birds probably heard her, but Taehyung didn't spare them another glance. We walked away, his hand protectively rubbing circles on my back until we were far enough that their voices blended with the ocean.
The rest of the day washed over us in warm colors. We explored Jeju's hidden corners — cute cafés decorated with pastel lights, small art shops filled with hand-painted souvenirs, and scenic cliffs that made the entire world feel soft. Taehyung kept one hand on my bump whenever the wind got too strong, and every time I tripped even a little, he became dramatic.
"Are you okay? Did your foot twist? Should I carry you?"
"Tae... it was a pebble."
"We hate pebbles. Pebbles are dangerous."
Later, by sunset, we sat on the beach again, my feet stretched out as Taehyung gently massaged my ankles.
"You're spoiling me," I whispered.
He leaned down and kissed my bump, murmuring, "Spoiling you is my daily job."
The night passed with us wrapped in each other — no noise, no stress, just the warmth of his arms secured around me as we drifted to sleep.
But morning decided to be chaotic.
A loud noise — something between yelling and furniture being dragged — startled me awake. I blinked in confusion before sitting up carefully. Taehyung slept like a log beside me, his hand still resting over my belly.
I followed the noise to the balcony, rubbing my eyes. When I stepped out, the cold breeze hit my skin... and then I saw it.
Xander and Song-hee.
Fighting.
Like actual domestic drama level fighting.
She was throwing her hands in the air, shouting; he was yelling back, face flushed with anger. Their balcony was right next to ours — unlucky us.
Before I could process it, warm arms wrapped around my waist from behind, pulling me gently against a warm chest. His voice was low, sleepy, raspy — the kind that could melt a mountain.
"Why are you up so early, love..." he murmured into my neck, his lips brushing my skin.
I tilted my head slightly. "Look forward."
Taehyung opened his eyes halfway, followed my gaze... and blinked.
Once.
Twice.
Then he straightened, still hugging me from behind as he raised his voice.
"HEY!" he shouted, making the two freeze. "Fight somewhere else! My wife needs her beauty sleep!"
Song-hee's mouth dropped open. Xander froze. Both stared at us like ghosts had just insulted them.
I bit down a laugh as they awkwardly shuffled back inside and slammed the balcony door.
Taehyung smirked, proud of his early-morning performance.
He tightened his grip on me, nuzzling into my neck again. "Now," he whispered, "where were we?"
I turned in his arms, and he kissed me softly — slow, warm morning kisses that tasted like sleep and love. His hands framed my face as he deepened the kiss, and for a moment, the world outside didn't matter.
Then he scooped me up — bridal style — making me squeal.
"Taehyung!"
"Hush," he whispered, kissing my forehead. "My pregnant princess needs more rest."
He laid me back on the bed gently, pulled the blanket over me, and climbed in beside me, pulling me into his chest. We fell asleep like that — tangled in comfort, wrapped in warmth.
Hours later, I woke up again, squinting at the sunlight peeking through the curtains. I reached for my phone on the nightstand — 11:02 a.m.
"Tae?" I called, but the room was quiet.
I sat up and reached for my phone again to dial him, but a familiar notification caught my eyes.
A message from him.
Good morning, love. I had some important work. I'll be back around 1 p.m.
Take care of yourself and our babies.
You were sleeping so peacefully... I didn't want to disturb my sleeping beauty.
Love ya.
I couldn't help smiling like an idiot at the screen.
I placed the phone aside, took a warm shower, and put on a soft dress. When I came out, I casually checked my phone again.
Another message.
This time, not from Taehyung.
From Xander.
Let's have breakfast together, my dear sister.
My eyes narrowed instantly.
