Chapter 70

Jake was outside with the chief all he can do is thinking about when they heard an explosion from inside the hospital in that worry all he could think is about Ellie . No one knew what had happened and it took a few minutes to hear from anyone inside. It was a bad day for Jake to be at co-op at the firehouse. This was a bad call and it reminded Jake of when the bomb went off at the hospital.

When Casey came through the radio and said some guy blew himself up and had something worse than Ebola, Jake quickly panicked. His fear only intensified when he heard that Severide was hurt pretty badly. He was glad to hear Casey, but it didn't make him feel much better.

" Chief, let me go in." Jake pleaded him.

" No one in or out." Chief said. "That includes you."chief tells Jake.

" I don't care about being exposed to something. Ellie is inside the hospital " jaje argues.

" Well I do know ." Chief said with a raised voice and eyed Jake, urging him to back down. He did, and Boden continued to watch him before grabbing his radio. "Casey." Chief says.

"Yeah, Chief?" He answered.

" Jake is uneasy out here." Chief said simply, knowing Casey would pick up the hint.

" Jake," Casey said. "I'm alright, buddy."

" Dad, I want to come in." Jake said. "I can help you with whatever you need." Jake says.

" No, absolutely not." Casey said quickly. "You do not come in here, you hear me?" Casey tells him.

" But Dad,"Jake says.

" Jake, this is not a discussion." Casey said firmly. "You stay outside. You better not even think of steppin one foot near that door. Do you understand me?" Casey tells Jake.

"I can't lose you and Ellie Where's Ellie?." Jake said, his voice cracking. "You're all Grace , Ellie and I have." Jake says.

" Listen, I know this is hard, but if something is wrong in here, Grace can't lose us both I'm going g to find Ellie that area might be safe." Casey said, trying to approach the situation from a different angle. "The best place for you is outside. I'll be out as soon as I can." Casey says.

"Yeah, okay." He sighed. "Just, be careful Dad, please and make sure she is too." Jake says.

" I always am. And I'll find her." Casey reminded him.

Jake took a few steps back, away from the door, letting Boden know he was backing off. He hung back and watched, trying to let everyone do their job as he waited. It was hard, he felt helpless and scared, but he had to pull it together when he saw Grace coming his way. He always pulled it together when she was around. One of them had to be strong and he was pretty sure it wasn't going to be her.

"Is he okay?" She asked.

" Yeah, but we do t know where Ellie is" Jake nodded. "He's fine, but no one can go in or out until they figure out what they're dealing with."

" Alright,wait Ellie is not seen or Alex? Grace says.

" She nodded slowly with a deep frown. "I'm going to see what Intelligence has, see if I can help." Grace.

" Grace, hang on." He called out, stopping her from leaving. "Kelly got hurt. It's pretty bad, but they're working on him."

Grace was quiet for a moment before she shook her head and cleared her throat, but he didn't miss the fear that flashed in her eyes. "I'll go see what they found." Jake says.

" Grace," He said. "It will be okay." Jake says.

" Yeah, I know." Grace nodded as she walked away.

He frowned, watching her go, wondering what was going through her mind. "She alright?" Boden asked as he slowly approached after watching the conversation.
