Texas doesn't trust anybody.
His mother promised him that she would NEVER break promises.
She promised she would always love him, she did.
She promised that everything she did was for the best, it was.
She promised she wouldn't die.
She broke the promise.
Texas thinks that it's his fault, so he doesn't love anyone. He has NO friends.
Because then he'll trust them.
He cannot do that.
