~present day (she is 16 years old now)~
After dinner I went to my chamber to think. I haven't had any desire to be here, to live with the father who had given me such heartbreak, time and time again, Kitten wasn't the only pet that left me, but he was my favorite.

I went quietly down the hall, and grabbed a ice blue backpack. I started putting a few things in it, starting with two photographs, one of my mom, and one of me and Kitten. I also grabbed some of my bread and water, that I kept for when my father made me go without dinner.

Then, quietly, I quickly ran downstairs to Cook Lola's chamber. "Miss Kali!" She said, surprised. She was trimming her bushes as I flopped onto her bed. "What is it darling," Cook Lola said, looking worried. "I-I-I can't do this anymore," I said, crying harder, "He thinks he can control me, and I'm done. With all of it. Lola, I w-w-want to run. Away, far far away, where no one knows me.

Cliffhanger!!! Also, the other picture above is Lola. :) I promise the chapters will get longer.
