"Baby?" My father whispers from my open doorframe as I lay still in bed, the images of my mother playing through my mind on a constant loop. My eyes however, have not disrespected my wishes since the day we found her, building up a dam and stopping the unwanted floods. "Can I sleep with you in your room?"
"Of course Daddy," I respond, sliding over and holding the blanket up for my father to come in. Striding over gladly, he wraps his arms around me, and for the first time in my life, I hear a sob leave his mouth.
"I can't sleep there. Not... Not without her."
