Swallowing a couple methadone doses with my father's back to me, I feel the pills slide down my throat, only hoping that they take effect quickly. "We should probably get you to school," My father mutters, taking a step away from his newly opened beer.
"Have you had anything to drink? I don't want you driving with alcohol in your system," I respond, looking over him nervously.
"I haven't, baby," He mutters reassuringly, kissing my forehead. "I love to know that you'll always be here to take care of me though."
"Of course Daddy," I whisper, hugging him. "I love you."
"I love you too," Hemutters, holding me close for a few moments before we slip into his brand newblack truck and take the short drive from home. My appearance differs littlefrom it did yesterday; my hair pulled back into a bun, black athletic shortsadorning my legs, an old army tee from Gray's old things, Gray's old drug rug,and a pair of basic leather thongs.
