The sunny environment of the Gold Coast warms me underneath my canvas like fabric, yet the familiarity of the cloth brings a sense of comfort; Gray is still with me. I know it. Pulling some rolling paper and a couple tree leaves from my back pocket, I blow through the joint in the moments before the bell.
Refusing to take thesunglasses from my eyes, I walk through the emptying halls, slamming the doorof my classroom shut after a lesson has already begun. Silence falls across theclass as my presence is acknowledged. Sitting down carelessly in my seat at theback of the class, a few heads turn to glance at the girl who's life has fallenapart 'oh-so-quickly'. I'm the girl who lost everything. "Larkin!" Jennawhispers desperately. Her need for contact with me goes unrequited as I can'thelp but hear her words echo through my ears soundlessly, and the four Zoloft pills from an hour ago take intoeffect, making my slightly euphoric high turn numb.
