"When was the last time you had any drugs beside your medication?" Reese asks suddenly, looking over my gaunt face, pale and tired due to the demons screaming at my every day.

"W-W-W-"

"Your god parents may not pay much mind to you, but I do. So please. Tell my the last time that you had something in your system." I look down to my lap, feeling disappointed in myself.

"This morning," I finally whisper.

"Do you have anything on you?" I nod. "May I see it?" Pulling it out of my bag, I watch as Reese lights it all on fire. Anger courses through my veins. That was at least fifty bucks in there alone! "Now, tell my how you feel about me at this moment."

"Why'd you do that?" I finally ask, looking to the remains longingly.

"Because I care about you Larkin. You may not see it, but I do. You're not a lost cause. You're the living embodiment of everything people need to cherish in this world."

"What's that?" I chuckle bitterly. "A disappointment?"

"No. A person who truly loves with all her heart. A person with courage and kindness that has no limits. A person who cares for those around her before herself. You're anything but a disappointment."
