"So, Larkin, do you know why you're here?" A man, Reese, inquires, looking over my gaunt face. I can't help scoffing and rolling my eyes.
"No, I'm completely unaware of the fact that my family is dead," I reply simply.
"No need to hate me," Reese chuckles. "I know it's redundant, but it's something I'm required to ask everyone."
"Why? To try and see if people are forgetful little shits?" A light laugh comes from Reese.
"Actually, it's more of a psychological thing; it's about denial."
"I've never denied that my family is dead. It's a fact. They've all stopped breathing."
"And you haven't," Reese counters. It's not like I haven't tried that. "So, Larkin, talk to me."
"About what?"
"Whatever the hell you want to talk about," He responds, still holding that irritating smile on his face.
"Alright. Once you stop it with that smile. I feel like I'm talking to the Cheshire cat."
