Chapter 29: I was trying to fly but I couldn't find wings

"I'm sorry," Blake said as he wiped his tears.

"For what? Crying? You don't need to apologise for your feelings," I smiled handing him a tissue.

"Thanks Sarah, I know it may not look like it, but talking to you actually helps." He said.

"What helps?" Ashton asked as he entered the kitchen.

"Nothing," Blake said quickly trying to hide the fact he was crying.

"Okay," Ashton rose his eyebrow but didn't ask anything else.

"So can we have that dance now?" Ashton asked smiling at me as he held his hand out for mine.

"You may," I laughed taking his hand.

"You two are way too cheesy," Blake smirked as he took out his phone again acting like the last 10 minutes didn't happen.

Ashton just laughed as he escorted me to the front room where everyone was dancing.

Ironically (not really) a slow song was playing.

I'd never gone with the wind

"This song was playing last time we danced at that party," Ashton smiled as he wrapped his hand around my waist. We slowly swayed along to the music.

I've never seen it before

"You remember?" I whispered quietly.

"Of course I remember, it was the first time we ever danced together," He chuckled.

But you came along and you changed everything

"Oh I thought you forgot because of what's her name- Caitlin- coming?" I asked.

You lift my feet off the ground

"Princess I hadn't seen her in ages, I know what it seems like, I mean yeah we had a thing but at the time we were more friends than anything else. At the time we were 'together' there was a lot of bad things going on in my life and she helped me through it. So when I saw her it was like I just met an old friend." He explained.

"Look I'm sorry you shouldn't have to explain yourself to me Ashton," I sighed.

"No it's fine I mean like you can ask me anything you like and I'll tell you," He said as he spun me around and back into his arms.He was a really good dancer.

I watched from a distance as you made life your own

"Your right. If you want to ask me anything than you can too," I said smiling at him.

Every sky was your own kind of blue
And I wanted to know how that would feel
And you made it so real

He smiled back looking into my eyes. I looked back into his but they were holding something back.

You showed me something that I couldn't see
You opened my eyes and you made me believe.

"Can I ask you something then?" He asked.

You lift my feet off the ground

I nodded a little hesitant.

He could see it in my eyes, which was why he said

"No it's alright actually, maybe another time," He smiled.

Baby you showed me what livin' is for
I don't wanna hide anymore

I nodded back confused slightly.

"Sarah,"

"Hmm?"

"You'd tell me if there was something on your mind, like anything that held you back?"

"What do you mean?" I asked.

I averted my eyes from his concentrating on what was around us.

People. Lots of them. All dancing. Some familiar some not.

"Like anything that would make you a little hesitant," He replied.

"Of course" I smiled but not looking directly at him.

I was still concentrating on what was around us.

That was when I saw him.

The blue eyed boy who broke my heart, looking directly at us.
