Auothor's note:
The things I do for you Stef :)
Stef’s POV
He turned back to me, where I was lying in the sand and the moment returned. He kissed the tip of my nose, before standing up, and pulling me up with him. “I’ll race ya!” I turned around from him, and ran off down towards the creek.
“You got a head start!” He called, running behind me. He wasn’t going to tackle me down this time. I sprinted across the sand, towards the setting sun. As I got to the edge of the creek, I saw him a fair way back. I stuck my tongue out at him and he did it back. I laughed and sat down in the sand. I put both my hands behind my head and lay back, getting a mini tan.
As he came up to me, he slowed to a walk. He sat down next to me. “This is wonderful.” He commented.
“What is? The scenery or the company?” I asked.
“The company outnumbers the scenery a hundred to one.” He replied, looking over at me. I smiled back.
Sarah’s POV
As much as I was cold, and he was being nice, it did and didn’t feel right. It didn’t feel right as friends, but as a ‘couple’ it felt warm and fuzzy. Oh crap. I held my breath for a second, and looked anywhere but Josh. I was in love, and I didn’t know if I wanted to be. I didn’t know if I could trust yet.
The reason I had never been kissed was because the first date I had ever been on, was my most recent. I was just leaving the restaurant after Alex told me to go the car, and after a while, I came back in, and in the hallway out the back, he was snogging the waitress. I didn’t cry for the first week. I just completely over thought it all. It was when I tried to get back to my old lifestyle did I realise what had happened. And I just never put myself out there again. I was a coward.
“What’s up?” Josh asked, looking across at me.
“Nothing. I’m just enjoying the now, hoping that it lasts forever.” I replied. ‘You are such a liar. You even lie to yourself. You love this guy. Why can’t you just accept that and do something? How long have I known him? Five days. Not in love. Just...charmed by his looks.’ I told myself.
“Something’s up.” He looked at me knowingly.
‘Why the fuck did you have to read my diary, and know what I look like when I have a problem with something? Or know what I look like all the time and know what I’m thinking?’ “We’ll talk about it later then.” I said and walked faster so that his hand slipped off my waist.
Cassie’s POV
We walked in silence until we were up at the creek. By now, we were all sitting around the water’s edge. I turned back and saw Maryanne and Liam, back along the beach, still talking. I doubted they would walk down here now. We decided not to light a campfire or any of that rubbish as it was gonna get really cold really soon.
The sun set in front of us, I snuggled up with Zayn and he hugged me close.
“We should get going now.” Sarah advised, standing up, folding her arms to keep herself warm. Instinctively, Josh hugged her. “Thanks.” she murmured. Stef had fallen asleep while lying against Louis, so he shook her shoulder and she sat up and yawned.
“It’s really cold, what time is it?” She asked, slowly standing up.
“Just after six thirty. Come on.” Sarah helped Izzy and Sarah W. stand up, before giving into helping Niall and Harry.
We walked back along the beach at get home, then we ran back once we were off the beach. Liam and Maryanne were waiting on the veranda looking up at the sky. It was a little hazy, but mostly clear.
Once we were inside, Sarah changed into her pjs and grabbed a book to read, while the rest of us raided the games cupboard. I played the holiday board game with Harry and Izzy, while the other’s all played uno.
“No. You can’t do that, it says here-” I argued as Harry cheated. He grabbed the book out of my hands and threw it behind him.
“Screw the rules, we’re playing ‘Harry Styles style’.” He laughed.
Stef’s POV
“Uno!” I cried.
“How did you do that?” Sarah W. questioned.
“Skill.” I replied.
“No, not skill, distraction.” She replied. “Uno.”
“Oh, you’re clever.” I replied.
“Would you two pay attention to the game.” Niall complained, placing his card down.
“Stop.” Sarah W. and I called in sync.
“Damn.” Niall commented.
Louis rolled his eyes. “It’s not skill or distraction, it’s strategy.” He said as he put down a reverse card.
“Dude, thanks.” Niall commented putting down a draw four. Sarah looked up at me and smirked, placing down a draw four as well. I sat there looking at the remainder of the players. Zayn, Maryanne, Liam and Josh were patiently waiting for me to make my move. So I picked up eight and Zayn took his turn.
Sarah’s POV
I shut my book(bookmark in place) and grabbed the t.v. remote. I turned the t.v. on and looked over what was on. “Hey guys, you wanna watch a movie?”
“What’s on?” Zayn called.
“Titanic.” I replied.
“When’s it starting?” Stef asked.
“Twenty minutes.”
“Sure, why not?”
“I’ll get the popcorn, you guys get your pjs on.” I suggested, getting up and opening the cupboard in the kitchen.
Commotion started as I cooked the popcorn over the stove. From where I was, I couldn’t see what they were doing in the living room, so when I heard something heavy being moved, I only assumed it was the couch.
“Here’s the popcorn, blankets, lights off and snuggle up.” I said, counting all the thing off my fingers as I sat down.
The movie started, and it was all good. Then, by about half way, I was pretty much in tears. Yes, I’m a baby. Seeing as I had no idea where the tissues had been moved, I was wiping my nose on my sleeve(yuck!), then somebody tapped my shoulder. I had no idea who I was sitting next to, so when I saw Josh holding the tissues, I was only to happy to comply.
Then as the movie neared the end, I was really crying, “Never let go.”
“I’ll never let go. I’ll never let go, Jack.”
Very gently, Josh wrapped his arms around me and I cried into his shoulder. He rocked me slowly and it was comforting.
