Cassie’s POV

Sarah was the only one crying. Zayn held my hand the entire movie, and for a second, I thought I was going to cry, but then I didn’t. The movie ended and all we could hear was Sarah sniffing. I was the first to get up off the couch. “I’m going to go read.” I said, leaving the room slowly. I flopped onto the bed and felt tired.

I must have fallen asleep around then, because when I woke up, I was tucked in under the blankets and facing the wall. It must have been early in the morning because everything was dark. I rolled over and saw Harry’s back. I freaked out for a moment, before realising that it was ok...I think. Well I couldn’t sleep so I did what I always did. I put on my jacket and track pants over my pj pants, and put on my shoes.

Once outside, I climbed up onto the carport roof. When I saw someone up there, I froze up, but I looked closer and saw that it was Sarah. She’s brought us up here the first time we came down to Seaspray and it had just been our place, at night. “Hey.” I said quietly, sitting next to here.

“Hey.” She replied softly looking up at the stars.

“What are you doing up here?” I asked.

“Same thing you are. Couldn’t sleep.”

I nodded and looked over at her. “Have you been crying?”

“I cried through the whole movie, remember?” She replied, smiling as she looked back at me.

“Yeah. But, I mean after...do you love him?” I asked nervously.

“Do you love Zayn?” She asked, pretty much answering my question.

“Oh. So that’s how it feels. But you two are so happy-”

“That doesn’t mean we’re in love.”

“He cares for you though.”

“But is that the same as love?” She asked, looking at me worriedly. “And it’s not that I don’t ‘care’ for him, but it’s trust. He knows me, one thing goes wrong and it all falls down. It wasn’t your fault. It was mine. I really over think too much stuff don’t I?”

“All the time.” I replied.

Stef’s POV

I knew they would be up on the roof, but then had to convince myself to get out of my warm bed into the cold air outside. When I finally did, and was ready, I went outside and climbed up to the roof. They were already there, as I predicted they would be, sitting next to each other, looking up at the stars.

The first night we ever sat up here, Sarah showed us all the different constellations, and how to map by the stars, which way north was and how to get home.

I settled down next to Cassie and I remembered everything us three had done together.  Year eight, we planned out that we were going to live together in an apartment, and then when we moved out, Sarah was going to design our houses and also our wedding dresses. Cass was going to be the photographer, and I was always going to be better than Sarah at tennis. We always laughed when it was brought up in conversation.

“So, you and Louis?” Sarah asked, looking over at me.

“Yeah. What about us? And what about you and Josh? And you and Zayn?” I asked, gesturing to the two of them.

“We’re friends.” Sarah said quickly.

“What about us?” Cassie asked.

“Right. You two are more than friends. And you and Zayn are so cute.” I laughed.

“We’re not 'more than friends'. I have ‘trust issues’.” Sarah explained.

“We are not the cute couple. You and Louis are. We’re more like the...” Cass tried to explain. “What’s the word I’m looking for?”

“You guys are sort of the passionate couple, you ‘love’ each other, but at the same time there’s always a background which you two are always conscious of.” Sarah explained.

“Yeah. That’s pretty much it. But you and Josh are the friendly couple. You guys don’t think of each other as boyfriend girlfriend, but you are more like brother sister, best friends, but he does like you.” Cassie described.

“What about me and Louis?” I asked eagerly.

“Louis and I. You two are very much the playful couple, always laughing, having a good time.” Sarah explained. I was happy to know that we were considered the ‘playful’ couple. “And we’re not a couple. Now I need some sleep. Good night. Hey. Wait, look.” Sarah pointed over to the right of where we were all looking. “Sunrise. Come on. Let’s go down to the beach.” She jumped off the side, rushed inside and came back out with her camera.

Sarah’s POV

We ran down to the beach, where Cassie set up the tripod and I angled the camera with the sun just off centre. Then we all sat down as I put it on sports mode continuos photo or something like that, and watched it rise. “Good morning.” I said as I lay my head down in the sand.

“Hey, tomorrow night, we should sleep out here on the beach.” Cassie suggested.

“Yeah.” Stef agreed.

“I can’t wait.” I commented.

Once the sun had risen, we went back and just as I finished putting the camera stuff away, and was getting back into bed, Josh rolled over and was pretty much on top of me. Ok, he wasn’t even touching me, but if he moved any closer towards me, he would be. And I couldn’t move any further away from him otherwise I’d fall out of the bed.

“Where were you this morning?” He murmured into my hair.

“Are you actually awake?” I asked, freaking out momentarily.

“Yeah. Sorry.” He shuffled back to his side of the bed. “Now answer my question; where were you earlier?”

“I was...” I was about to say up on the roof, but that was sort of us girl’s place. “I was at the beach. Watching the sunrise.”

“Ok.” He rolled over and then I fell asleep.
