Stef’s POV
They were gone. They left a note.
She meant too much to him. Gone to get her. Be back late.
-Cassie and Josh.
Right, so now I had just drove Sarah, to Taralgon, about three hours ago, now they were gonna go the whole way the the airport, most likely. They might miss her flight. They might not see her. She might have decided not to go after all. So many things could go wrong with this plan of theirs.
“Hey, where’s Cass?” Zayn asked, coming into the kitchen. I handed him the note and he looked bewildered. “Why?” He asked, looking up at me confused. I pointed at the note.
“It has all the answers on it. He loved her. He’s gone to get her. And she volunteered to drive. Well that’s my guess.” I predicted.
He sat down at the bench and sighed, he was annoyed. “What’s up?” I asked, resting my elbows on the bench as I rested my head in my hands.
“Why did she have to go?” He asked, scrunching his hands into fists.
“Hey. There’s nothing wrong with what she’s doing. She’ll be back, soon.” I reassured him.
“No. It’s not that she went. It’s that if they don’t find Sarah in time for her flight, they’ll have gone all the way there for absolutely no reason.” Zayn explained.
“Not nothing.” I began. “Something. They’ll come back knowing that they were too late, and that if something was supposed to happen, then it would have happened before now.”
“But that’s still so pointless.”
“But true.” I insisted. He nodded and looked down at the table.
“It just makes me so conscious that that’s how easily Cassie could leave. And be gone forever.” He admitted.
“It won’t happen because she goes to uni in Melbourne and she thinks to highly of us...and you.” I tried to explain.
“No, it’s not just university, it’s just that she could...go, leave me, without warning or reason.” He ran his hands through his hair, smoothing it back, but also adding a bit of spunk.
‘I wish Louis would do that sometimes.’ I thought as I sighed. “Well I’m sure that she wouldn’t leave without reason. Do you want something to drink or eat, it’s about lunch time?” I asked looking up at the clock. It was quarter to one.
“Yeah, ok. Can I have a glass of water, I’ll make my own lunch.” He got up and came into the kitchen.
“Oh, by the way, while I dropped Sarah off in Taralgon, I did some grocery shopping, I got bread, milk, butter, fruit, I got mince because there was next to no meat. I also got veggies because I couldn’t find any in the kitchen.” I explained.
“Great.” Harry commented sitting down at the bench. “Could you make me a sandwich please?”
“Can’t you do it yourself?” I asked, setting out the chopping board.
“No.” He replied simply.
“Lazy.” I muttered, as Zayn put the bread on the chopping board.
“Did you get eggs?” Zayn asked.
“Yeah, I did. In the fridge door.”
