It could all end

Sarah’s POV

The week absolutely flew by. And that’s what scared me. I think it was scaring everyone.

It was almost silent for the next three days after the rock-climbing. Amelia hadn’t come since then either, and was going back to France in two days, so we were going to have a small surprise party for her tomorrow. But other than that, there really wasn’t that much to look forward to... in the scheme of things.

The tour was going to be six months long, but I knew that it would feel longer than that. And as selfish or selfless as I was, whichever it is, I think that because of them, I wasn’t going to be as close as I used to be with the girls. Because Wardy is going back to Australia, I probably will too, Maryanne is staying, because now she has a steady job here, I think Cass will stay, Stef I’m pretty sure is staying; so we’ll be very split up. And I’m worried that that wouldn’t have happened if we hadn’t met the boys.

But at the same time, I wouldn’t have had such an amazing, ballistic, awkward, fun, challenging, ridiculous time in only three months. I’ve been over seas, something that I’d never done, rock-climbing, an actual relationship, gone to a concert, stayed in a state-of-the-art penthouse hotel room. And it could all end this Saturday morning.

Thursday morning I woke up way too late. It was half past nine when I glanced at the clock. Immediately I sat up and pretty much went into over-drive. Amelia’s “small surprise party” was today and we hadn’t set up for it or anything. So I was showered, hair done, teeth brushed and dressed within the next ten minutes.

I was putting on my shoes as I went down the stairs, and me not being co-ordinated or having a good sense of balance fell head first down the last three steps, shoes still in my hand. “Oof.” I exclaimed, pulling myself up and dusting myself off.

“Morning.” Harry greeted me as he walked past, not even acknowledging that I had just fallen down the stairs.

I rolled my eyes and followed him through to the kitchen. It had been completely redecorated. Balloons and streamers were at every point in the room. It looked great. And I thought I’d have to do it all. And somebody else had made breakfast for once. I sighed and seated myself at the table and looked over at everybody quietly eating. Pancakes, fruit, waffles and muffins were spread along the middle of the table. It was glorious.

Cassie’s POV

When Amelia arrived, Sarah let her in and lead her through to the kitchen. We’d all decided to hide in the kitchen and dining room and actually surprise her. So when she walked in, Liam was at the lights, he flicked them on and we all jumped out. It was almost perfect timing, except for the fact that Wardy had jumped out too soon., but it didn’t spoil it.

We sat around and had cake and chips and just talked about anything and everything, none of us really wanting to move or ruin the moment. When it was nearly time for Amelia to go, Sarah went and fetched something wrapped in shiny silver paper. It was flat and even though on the card it said it was from all of us, I had no idea what was in it.

Amelia slowly unwrapped it. Inside, was a framed, blue and black water colour map of the world. Sarah must have painted it sometime within the last few days. Where France was, a tiny silver heart was stuck. And at the bottom of the picture written in very delicate handwriting, hardly looking like Sarah’s, was written: The Road Between Houses of Friends is Never Long. Amelia looked like she was about to cry, no, she was crying. The gift was perfect. Then, Amelia went around the table and hugged each of us, and finally, somehow or another, we ended up in a group hug.

She left, and it was sad. We couldn’t go to the train station to see her off as she wasn’t leaving until two am tomorrow morning, as she needed to be back for work the same day. Sarah and Wardy and Amelia all cried. I didn’t. I don’t think Stef did either.

Stef’s POV

The guys were leaving in two days time. I know that Sarah had got Josh a present, actually she’d made one, but I don’t know what it is, so I kind of feel obliged to get something for Louis. So the very same afternoon, I asked Sarah, Wardy and Cass (Maryanne had gone off to work again(it’s started to worry me)) to go shopping with me, but only because I need their help with choosing a gift. Of course Wardy and Sarah were both ecstatic about this, I rolled my eyes, Cass shrugged and agreed to go.

We headed out and while we were making our way there, Sarah and Wardy kept on suggesting ideas for Cass and I, apparently Wardy already had something for Niall, or wasn’t getting him anything.

So we went down to the shopping center and began looking, nothing really caught my eyes. We went into every home wares and gift shop we could find, Cass got Zayn a beanie that said “Call Me Maybe”. So now it was just me, stuck with no idea or what to get Louis. Then I had an absolutely brilliant idea. Dr. Seuss’s “Oh the Places You’ll Go.” It was perfect. And anyway, we were having our going away party for them tomorrow, so it was absolutely perfect.

That night we watched The Breakfast Club and ate cake and chocolate. It was quiet, but nice. Sarah fell asleep about three quarters of the way through, so we turned it down so that it wouldn’t wake her.

Somehow, none of us got to bed that night as I woke up and saw that we were all still in the living room, same clothes as last night with food pretty much trashing the floor. I looked into the kitchen and saw that majority of yesterday’s party decorations were still there, phew, that meant that we wouldn’t have to decorate.

Sarah was awake (screw you morning people), reading. It was still dark in the room so I couldn’t see what exactly she was reading, but it looked familiar. Then she looked over the top of the book right at me. “Morning.” She croaked, obviously she wasn’t fully awake yet.

“You ready?” I asked almost silently. She shook her head and I could have sworn a tear rolled down her cheek.
