Chapter 20: Chances (II)

Vanessa's POV

"Oh shit, look who found us." Arielle says looking at her phone and hearing heels. We all pretend to go to sleep.

"Looks like they're asleep." I hear Emma's Mom say.

"Oh." Normani's Mom says walking away.

"You guys can stop faking now." Emma's Mom says a while later. We all wake up and see her in regular clothing.

"It's a miracle.! She's in regular clothing for the first time.!" Camila exclaims and we laugh also.

"Can you tell me what actually happened." Emma's Mom says.

"I didn't believe a word she said," Emma interjects, clicking her tongue and we laugh.

"I didn't believe her either. My ass ran and didn't look back." Ashlee laughs.

"What actually happened is, I was putting up something, and she just randomly came up behind me and said I didn't know what I was doing." Normani says.

"If anyone doesn't know what they're doing, it's Lauren.!" Ally exclaims.

"Wait, haven't you known her the longest.?" Emma asks me.

"Yeah." I chuckle.

"What the hell." Emma's Mom says scratching her hair and we laugh.

"And I asked why'd she think that and she just said it didn't sound right, or normal." Normani says.

"I personally think you guys' parenting is horrible just because of the unfortunate inside scoop." Emma's Mom says and we laugh.

"I honestly don't care. She's alive." Ally's Mom laughs and we laugh.

No One's POV

"I was just looking at the records here, and my god, it's like 50 pages." Emma's Mom says.

"She actually counted, whereas I would've given up after 10 seconds of scrolling." Vanessa and Emma say.

"Although the sound is really cool." Vanessa and Camila say.

They go back to doing their own thing, before Vanessa sees familiar feet. Not again.

"Mani. M-Mani." Vanessa whispers, stammering unintentionally.

"Hm.?" Normani hums in response, not looking up from her phone.

"Mani."

"Yes.?" She still doesn't look up, so Vanessa takes her phone. Normani whines some. "Princess. Give it back."

"No." Normani looks around to make sure no one is looking, and she briefly kisses Vanessa, taking back her phone in the process. "What," Vanessa says, confused.

"Haha." Normani giggles. "What'd you actually want to tell me.?"

"If I scream rape, don't be surprised."

She bites her lip to prevent from laughing, but she couldn't help smiling. The laughter comes soon after, more like a giggle. "You're a mess, but I love you."

This person tries to come up on the bed, but all of them on the bed scream, "RAPE." Their parents look slightly confused. They all just laugh, Ally's Mom does too.

"See, we kind of made this up during the worst phase of life." Dinah says.

"Oh my god, that was horrible." Ally says.

"She'd be over there scrolling for days trying to find the last actual conversation, which was rare to none." Lauren laughs.

"Yeah, like this," Camila laughs, unlocking Vanessa's phone and scrolling for a while.
