Chapter 26: Shout Out to My Ex (I)

Vanessa's POV

I just woke up, and I can already tell that today is going to suck.

"You just woke up and you're already mad." Normani laughs, noticing my facial expression.

"I'm with you kid." Lauren says.

"Someone understands me!" I say, raising my arms in a sense of victory.

"What about me?" Normani pouts.

"You're just there--" I chuckle.

"--There was love somewhere in that comment." Normani laughs, making everyone laugh.

"Really? I couldn't tell." Dinah says.

"Dinah, you're not helping!" Normani whines, making everyone laugh again.

"Are you that mad at the world?" Ally asks, chuckling.

"Yeah."

"It's okay, I understand." Lauren chuckles also, kissing my forehead and walking away.

"You might feel better after you take a shower munchkin." Camila says.

"Maybe so." I say, hopefully getting up to get in the shower. But when I get there, I realize why I'm so down in the dumps.

Today marks 8 months since I broke up with Sammy's brother. She forced me into dating him, because she said I "needed someone" without realizing that I had a slight crush on Normani.

Do I still have a crush on her, you ask? That's a really good question, but one that I can't answer because of current circumstances. Not just because it's highly illegal, but because I honestly don't know.

I've always wondered does she feel the same way, and the small things she does that are different from the way she treats other people. Especially David.

She says she loves him and all; they're even engaged and they have a daughter together, named Alayna Simone. Normani picked her first name, and David picked the middle. (shocking!)

I feel like she's more passionate and loving around me though. Call me biased, but that's just my honest opinion.

Then, there's Dinah. She's unfortunately in the middle of this too. She is trying way too hard to reach Normani's level, but she or anyone else never will. Even Ally knows that.

I get out of the shower, and wrap myself in the towel to see Lauren walking in. "Oh good, you're out."

"Yeah, sorry about that." I say, walking in my closet, slightly nervous that she might be able to tell that I'm not myself.

What if she shakes it off like she used to? What if she doesn't care? What if she tunes out? What if-

Lauren's fingers snap in my face, interrupting my thoughts. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing." I shrug, continuing to go through my closet. She helps me pick out an outfit, causing me to mentally sigh of relief. "Hey, I'm-"
