Chapter 9
Everyday I go out since Light gave them to me I bring a peace of death note paper. I have to admit it is nice not having to carry around that bulky death note everywhere. And with me being under suspicion it wouldn't be wise to carry my big death note around. So it's been staying locked away hidden from even those looking for it. I rub my side from what had happened the night Dad had been put in the hospital. I was glad the unsightly bruise was gone but from my not feeding regularly it was still hurting. Grumbling under my breath I remember crossing the street while talking to Light on the phone. The stupid car had ran a freaking red light. The guy scrambled out of his vehicle after the machine had made impact with me sending me flying backwards, I would say a good ten or more feet. He was apologizing profusely and getting ready to call 911 before he had realized he was the one in the wrong. This would have been more then just an untimely accident. He would be arrested for hitting me with his car, and if I should die, he would go down for murder. My mind was still swimming from the impact, I watched as he glanced around to see if anyone was watching before grabbing me. Pulling me towards the nearest alley.
When I gathered myself and realized exactly what he was doing, I did the only thing I could think of. I kicked his legs off of underneath him against the agonizing protests of my wounded body. When I got up I was tempted to spit blood down on him before sending my foot into his stomach knocking the air from his lungs. "Stay put." I told him before bending over and digging into his pockets finding his wallet. Pulling his driver's license from it's small pocket I take in his retarded name. "Well Mr. Raiden, from what we have just went through it seems. You were going to ditch me into the alley so I could die just to avoid being arrested. Your fear of Kira is sickening." I glare down at him as I put his license back and shove his wallet back into his pocket. "Kira is God of the new world, and yet you are afraid? Though, I guess you have good reason. You did nearly kill me and try to dump my body to avoid being arrested. Only someone unworthy of living in the new world would do such a thing."
"Are.. Are you going to call the cops on me?" He asks, his voice filled with fear and panic causing me to just roll my eyes at him. Brushing my hair from my eyes so he may take a good look at me I give him a kind smile. Even as I hear him gasp. "W. W. What a. a. are you?!" he shouted scrambling to his feet before bolting into the very alley he was trying to dump my body in. Silently I follow him feeling the burn inside me from his building fear. I watched as his steps were staggering from his overwhelming panic, his breathing erratic. His mind was probably racing a million miles per hours right about now as he fights his fears to try and get away. To attempt to preserve his pathetic life.
"I'm not going to call the cops. Why would I?" I asked him holding back a giggle even as he found a dead end. Reaching into my pocket I pull my peace of death note out along with the pen that seemed to have been broken in the accident. Using the end peace of it I look down as I write the stupid human's name on the paper. Once finished I look up putting the paper back into my pocket along with the pieces to the pen. "You want to know what I am?" I ask his terrified expression. "You are going to die so you might as well know now.." Finally I did giggle before I held my arms out at my sides. Pausing and silently counting the seconds as they tick past. "I, am Kira." I said just before the time hit 40. I watched as his eyes widened in recognition as he visually paled before he clutched at his chest. Blood spilled from the corner of his mouth as he tried to cough so he could intake some air. I felt my smirk widen into a grin as the jerk collapsed onto the ground. It didn't take me long to push against my pain and leave the scene making sure that no one had watched or had even been in hearing distance as I left. I probably should have fed from him, to force him to pay me back for the damage he had caused. But, I would have ran the risk of my saliva being pulled from his body during his autopsy. It was risky enough to just place myself in the same alley as him even though no one was around.
